I've thought about this, discussed this and wondered if I could easily use almost everything I have into mine but just need to rebuild the xmember. Nofords had SDHQ do the rebuild for a decent price but he had his old xmember, mine would need to be fabricated.
Re arc the springs for SUA
Rebuild the icons 2.5s up front
Buy new rear icons for SUA
my TC uppers and lowers can def be used still.

I would be interested to hear your plan, so please keep me posted man.

    Yes
It's only $10 of steel to repair the cut cross member, it is just a 6" chunk that was cut out. A guy here in SD just did it but he bought the OE length extended travel Fox's and sold all of his 6" stuff as a complete kit.

Have you already talked to Deaver about the springs ? I'm curious if they are actually re usable IE: long enough etc. You might be able to reuse your rear Icons if you had SDHQ build rear hoops that raised the top mounting location. They prob have the travel you need but just need to be mounted properly ? If anyone goes through the process it would be cool to do a build thread for it. I thought about it myself before rebuilding my truck but ultimately I like the 6" lift look and I ended up with the mid functionality / travel.

Personally I think the ideas you guys have been discussing for dedicated trail rigs is the way to go. Leave the Taco alone as it is now as a cool DD and pick up and old 85' SA or Cherokee like you mentioned as a dedicated trail rig.

^^ This ^^ I'm thinking about getting a trailer rig to beat up on hard stuff and keep my Tacoma for what I use it for now. It's a DD so I don't want to go over the top. I break enough stuff as it is....:D

I had similar thing across the street from me a few years back. Guy had a 69 Bronco fully restored and built up with a new 302. Ended up having carburetor issues he couldn't figure out and he just let it sit in the driveway for over 2 years. I tried to buy it but he wouldn't sell. Grrrr!
