Ok, so I'm in the middle of an NRA short term gunsmithing course on the large frame AR. I'm working on making a blueprint for my barrel tonight to kill time and make my life easier. My problem is I don't know how long threading should be on the muzzle to accept a suppressor (eventually) and my muzzle brake for now

Does anyone have an lr-308 or similar that is threaded and could measure how long they need to be from the muzzle to the shoulder that the can would but up against?

    I'd appreciate it

You'll have to check current prices, I've had most of my class III stuff quite a while. I remember the good ol'e days.

Have at it. Assuming you're doing a 5/8"-24 thread pattern, AAC says 0.62" from muzzle to shoulder.

Thanks dude! I appreciate it. Looking for a bit of a economy route. Hydro dipping expensive?

    Nope

Actually a general acquisition for the Special Operations Command from AAC when the US first went into Afghanistan. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I did not mean Surfire. SF=Special Forces

Returned those other scope rings and picked up a pair that raised the scope up some more. Still could be a bit higher, but for now it will do.

That's AR Height. AR optics are all higher than regular rifles because AR stocks are parallel with the top of the receiver. Unless you want an ear-weld, you have to have higher optics.

AK and conventional rifles are different because the stock slopes downward so you can have the sights as low as you want.
