    Because it's not the movies...

What happens in the "action" is real. People lose limbs, get brain injuries so traumatic that they are near vegetables, and God forbid die. Seeing your buddy (who you'd consider a brother) get hit is not something you should want to be a part of. Just imagine for a moment your closest friend getting shot or blown up and you have to watch them as they breathe their last breath. There are no "do overs" in real life.

What our men and women in the military do is nothing short of heroic, but just joining to get "into the action" is not a good reason to join. There must be something more, something deeper than that. What that is for each person is different and only you can decide what your motivation is.

Another real consideration you need to take into account is the leaders above you. Do they consider you valuable asset in defending the founding principles of this country, or more likely the case with the current administration, a political pawn to be used as a subject line in an email.

I left Afghanistan in 2011 and can tell you it was absolutely sickening watching the way the military was being used. The ROE were getting guys killed because the bureaucracy was hamstringing them so much that they weren't allowed to take the fight to the bad guys, instead they had to wait for the fight to come to them. They were being used strictly to police areas of known insurgents, if the insurgents didn't shoot at them, even though they knew they were the bad guys, they had to leave them be. So what it came down to was if the insurgents could ambush a squad with favorable odds they would. If they encountered odds that put them at a disadvantage, the insurgents would walk away, and there wasn't a damn thing the troops could do about it.

The war in Afghanistan is political, and the only people who win in a political war are our opponents, and the politicians.

Forgot to mention. Anyone coming over tomorrow should think about bringing a folding chair.

I don't doubt you have your reasons. What I'm telling you is that "I want to fight" is not a good one. If there is more to it than that then good for you.

If all you want is a fight go to a local bar and start a fight. Get your ass handed to you. Wake up in the morning and doctor your bruised ego.

There are no bruised egos on a real battle field. Confusion, fear, and love of your brothers is all that occupies a real battlefield fight.

I've had a few bottles of Adelbert's and it was hit or miss for me.

But I'm always interested in finding good tasting Triples & quads since they're not my favorite :anonymous:

If you like stouts, they just released black crack (southern star buried hatchet in bourbon barrel) today.

You never know. But be sure to tell them. They will find out one way or another and if they found out you lied then its an automatic no.
