To celebrate rolling over 20K miles I bought the old girl some new fancy bits... carrozzeria wheels, galfer rotors, some ugly @ss red CRG levers off ebay (gonna strip the anodizing off when I get the chance) and a scott's steering dampener.

For 7 months ive been waiting for the warm, perfect nights where I can just cruise in a t shirt and be super comfy and have a relaxing ride. The night has finally come. I rode the bike all over boise today, then back to meridian as the sun was setting. All day the bike rode perfectly, fired right up, idled fine (has some mean back fire lol), and didnt death wobble with my hands off above 30 mph. 50 miles in a day may not be a lot for most people, but on something I have been rebuilding for the last 7 months and to have it come back and not leak anything at all...im ecstatic in a way ive never been before.

im glad it appears to be (mostly) over

my buddies are suggesting I paint parts of the bike military matte green. so far i want to do the tank and rear fender. any other suggestions for pieces I can do? I dont want to rip the bike apart to do it

^^^ that's awesome man. I don't think I would go much further than painting the tank and fender. That's, usually, plenty of color for the bike. If I did, I might would paint the mirrors but I'd really have to think about that before hand.

Tank, fender, maybe the sides of the rad? Maybe go full black on the wheels to remove the semi silver outlines on the spokes? Just going off what I saw in the 1st gen thread.

Hmm, sides of the radiator might be good. I like that idea.
Blacking out the wheels is a good idea too. I should have somone do this in photo shop

I'm going to get one of those super small mirrors that clip onto the handle bar, so that wouldn't do much good. I could paint the front fender, if I had one lol.

I'm thinking maybe headlight case and brackets if I want to deal with taking them off. Possibly painting the front shocks black?

Then my friends suggested getting an old school fighter pilots helmet and goggles to complete the look haha. I think it's a great idea

    Sehr gut!

I keep having bad thoughts about one of them.
but then again I am kind of a slut when it comes to motorcycles.

Oh ok. Yea the headlight might look good color matched but if I did the headlight then I might would do/leave the brackets black. The shocks would look good black also. Maybe paint the brake calipers green but leave some black accents on them? IMO, it is very easy to go overboard with the main color.

As far as the helmet goes, I feel like the helmet completes the look of the bike. I had a half helmet that I loved but went out and bought the old school flat black 3/4 helmet just because it went with the bike better. I've also been debating getting some retro goggles or the bubble shield that snaps to the helmet. My bike is insanely fun to ride but I have more fun when I'm driving down the interstate and people slow down to take pictures or I pull up to a gas station and two or three people walk over to talk to me about it. And I've had a ton of comments on how my helmet goes with the bike perfectly.

Goin on a short ride tomorrow with my buddy. He just went and got a Ninja 250 to ride to work. He's already talking about trading up to a ZX10R shortly. Haha. Probably get some good pics tomorrow.
