Buying a used supercharger seems sketchy.

I bought a used one for pretty cheap, turned out great. Swapped the snout oil before the install and bought a new belt instead of the one it came with.

I bought a projector once off ebay in college for $200. Didn't work, couldn't get my money back after jumping through hoops. Needless to say lesson learned and God Bless the soul who buys this thing.

yeah but that isn't something you have to wait and hook up and see if it works. I am referring more towards used electronics, car parts such as the super charger etc. I would buy seat covers all day on ebay. Just bought some side steps there a week ago.

And if your truck is under warranty, and this thing ends up smoking your engine, there is no way Toyota would cover it.

I have no problem buying stuff off eBay, but a supercharger is a precision instrument. Something like that needs to be fresh out of the box.

But if you have an older truck that you don't really care about too much, it might be worth the risk (assuming it actually sells for that price, bidding might drive it way up).

Well... All the parts appear to be there, but if you can get a brand new one for $1000 more I would just go that route

Out of curiosity how much power gains have people with the SC seen? For 3k it better be pretty signifigant.

    "Produces 304 hp @ 5,400 rpm and 334 lb.-ft. torque @ 3,600 rpm (from 239 hp @ 5200 rpm; 278 lb.-ft. @ 3700 rpm."

Not enough to justify the cost (and that's even if you can get one for 3K).

The power to weight ratio after the SC is greater than that of the Tundra w/ the larger V8.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Make sure it comes with everything to install it...or pass.

I wasn't suggesting any other bolt-on's either. I think doing anything to give this engine more power is pointless. There are many more meaningful ways to mod these trucks.

I wouldn't say that... Power to Weight is way more important. A Lotus Elise has a 1.8 liter Camry Engine and it stomps a Mustang with a 6.0L.

My semi realistic dream car is a Lotus with an even bigger engine swapped in

I just don't understand the appeal of the Mustang... It feels like a mid life crisis car or a car for teenage girls :p
