You just described every auto manufacturer. They hedge the bet that it will cost less in the long run if they don't issue a voluntary recall and just attend to an issue per customer complaint. A manufacturer will determine how serious of a safety issue and then decide whether it warrants a recall. Obviously GM did not think the ignition switch was that serious.

Once the government steps in that is when it gets costly.

Unfortunately, he is experiencing the issues of a new redesign. I am assuming he just bought the new 2015 my.

Good luck with that!! You may find the Chevy spending more time in the Shop than on the road due to recalls....

I got to drive brand new GMC Sierra all terrain. Its funny the front end has like 5" of ground clearance. The thing looks so low to the ground from a distant it looks like a SUV! The throttle has a delay, you can smash the pedal real quick and nothing will happen. Kinda tricky to drive at first.

All you did was trade one problem for another...

I hate those low front bumpers. I have no idea why they would make a truck like that.

More problems for even more problems?

Sounds like a plan to me. I rather have my passenger window motor whine then deal with what GM has been going through for the past four-five years.

Hey, maybe you should join your pal :stirthepot:

That was my point. To put my quote in context, I was stating that they did not take the initiative (at the time, not talking about now) to fix things. They knew there was a safety concern but did nothing.

When will GM just be out of business? They just need to throw in the towel, I mean they're at 20+ million recalls for 6 months

That's because we aren't the whole "american" truck thing with Ford vs. Chevy crew that don't know anything about trucks and just say Ford is better than Chevy or Chevy is better than Ford and have no evidence to back it up. When they probably don't know the difference besides the badge on the front and still don't believe Toyota trucks are more american than there "american" trucks.

At least you'll have more payload and pulling capacity. I always tell people the tacoma is equivalent to a good SUV, but it looks like a truck. It's no match for the ruggedness of a 1500. I had a chevy trailblazer for a few years and it was a pos though. All manufacturers have bad examples.

Designing a politically correct truck will not endear them to me. Just build in some quality instead of the crap they have been pumping out for years. Now they need to recall the crap instead of being indifferent because of government pressure. You can only build so much crap before it backs up on ya.:poking:

I thought about going full size (and if I had, it would have been a Tundra), but honestly my truck isn't really used as a truck most of the time. Occasionally for work, that's really it. I just like sitting higher, the off road capability, and the versatility of a bed if I need it. There's nothing I'd ever need to do that my Tacoma couldn't.

MY2014. He is more just annoyed with continuing to return to the dealership.

Not to mention the tech that did the last recall (tranny software) backed into a lift post at the dealership. The tech proceeded to tell the service manger the dent was there when the truck came in. But the video from the service area told a different story. Needless to say the tech is no longer employed at the dealership.

It rides great and the interior has nice feel. Just more truck than I need.
