Here's a pic of where I got the constant 12V power from. The dome light fuse is still using the original 7.5A fuse and the new led circuit is using a 3.5A fuse, both fuses on the new add-a-fuse.

This is where I tapped into the dome light dimming ground wire. There are more pictures on TW that show which wire it is better. I used a red snap on wire tap to splice into the blue wire on the top row of the black wire harness. I then routed the wire through the rubber grommet going into the firewall that has the hood latch cable going through it.

This is how I mounted the led strips under the doors. There is a 14" led strip under each door. If I were to do it again I probably would have used 1 long strip under each side of the cab instead of 2 under each door. I like it the way it is but there would have been less wire to hide with one long strip on each side. I ran the wire between each 14" strip back into the truck frame to hide it. There was about 48" of wire between each strip.

Nice write up. Also you requested the extra wire.lol could have cut and butt connected the strips if you still want less wire to connect the strips.

The extra wire was good because I could run the wire straight back to the frame between each light so there's less visible wire running along the length of the truck. I think the only way to have a cleaner install would be to have one long light running to whole length of the cab. It came out exactly how I wanted it to. Thanks for making it how I requested.

So the hot wire is always on.. its the ground the gives it the power to light up. Also can you post a link to the better pic of what wire to tap.. I tried to fish a wire down throw the drivers side pillow and that was a fail.[IMG]

Those fuses are in the driver side fuse panel. There is a blue wire on the top row of the plug behind the red wire tap in the picture. There's a few white and white/black stripe wires to the right of the blue wire. Try and search for lights under truck and dome light. To tell you the truth, I don't know how to post a link to it. Take a look at the driver's side fuse panel and you'll see the blue wire.

Yes, the hot wire is always on. The ground dims on and off to turn the on and dim off the light.

Yes, the blue wire is the ground for the dome. It connects ground to the lights when you open the door, and disconnects ground when you close the door. My picture sucks, there is a much better diagram in one of the "dome light wire" threads.

Leave the fuse for the hot wire out until all your wiring is done, just to be safe.;)

Deeez forgot to ask. Were the long lengths of the wire and loom tubing from each strip enough to route to the engine?

The wire length worked for me. I would make them about a foot longer on each because they barely made it. But they made it.
