Well, I'm glad Toyota was willing to do something for you as they wouldn't do a damn thing for me when I had my 13 Rav4.

What issues did you have with the Rav? Wife has an '04 and is going to be looking to replace it soon.
She doesn't need or want something as big as the Highlander, and the new 4Runner is as big as the old Sequoia. The Rav is a perfect size for her needs.

Actually the HVAC system is improved in 2012+. With the NUMMI joint venture killed by GM's bankrupcty, Toyota has been slowly weeding out the Delphi crap.

Just keep in mind there's no magic here. Toyota being more reliable than Dodge nowadays means 1.2 problems per vehicle instead of 2.8 problems per vehicle...

Thanks guys for humoring my little bitch fit. My concern isn't that they'll not take care of it, they'll do that and then some. My concern is that they'll take care of it with the same part that failed at 5k, which makes me wonder if this will be a regular thing.

Correct..Quality gets cheaper, vehicles get more expensive. Anybody who thinks Toyota is immune from this is sorely mistaken.

Unfortunately you hit on 2 common problems, the entune radios can be problematic and I've seen many postings of this, it needs replaced. Second, bad resistor or loose pins in the resistor connector. Neither serious, both PITA.

Although unfortunate that is what the warranty is for. If you have a good dealer they will take care of you.

My 02 taco... enough noises in 70000 miles i was sure i was in for a tranny and rear end replacement. I was lucky it got 'totaled' and used the proceeds on my '12 prerunner. So far so good w/exception of the driveline vib i need to take it in for.
NUMMI was a big headache prior to 2011 and GM backing out was a big break for Mr. T. When they consolidated assy in Tx and BC, alot of overall quality problems, and hopefully most of the frame rust issues are behind us. Now the move of corp to Tx and I believe product quality will improve again...my .02 anyway. We all have to remember when we were trainees and probably didn't do too well in overall quality in first jobs...as above, what the warranty is for..

thanks again guys, again, more annoyed than worried. especially when i read so many had the same issue and that it was more of a design issue than quality. is the entune a head unit replace or did i see there is another part/device upstream that was the culprit. they know about that one too as when i was in for 5k they told me they did a firmware update to deal with that.

so got to the dealer, harness on order for the fan thing, annoying but whatever. Now tell me if this makes sense. As a measure to troubleshoot the radio, they wiped it clean from all data, and asked that i not pair a phone to it for one week and then bring it back. This is after i told them that it hasn't always happened for periods longer than a week. This seems like weak troubleshooting

Called corporate. Told them I was disappointed and expected more from a Toyota product. Just be polite.

they are simply following a procedure or document, not making guesses.

it takes time to sort out some problems and doing it step by step is proven to work, as long as you don't jump or skip any steps. if 'wait and see' is the step you are on, then wait and see....

i'm sorry i disagree, this isn't a course of action that could guarantee any type of answer to the problem. at this point i have at least 2 future service appointments for these two issues, one of which shoudl fix the fan issue, the other is most likely going to result in more. I don't work/live/travel near a toyota dealer, and i work out of my vehicle, not using my phone for a week means i'm going to need to go buy an earbud or something. huge hassle. not indicative of quality, reliability, or troublefree ownership which is at least to me the entire point in paying for this brand.

Are you using an iPod with the head unit? I still have problems with mine and the iPod. Freezes up maybe every hour or so. Seems like an iPod problem, because h/u never freezes under any other conditions other than iPod use.

You've had 2 issues with a new truck. Although I understand your frustration (I would be too) it is not indicative of the quality of the truck. Things go wrong and yes it is a pain to deal with. But if you think of the thousands of moving parts, electrical systems, etc... in your truck it's not the end of the world.

#1 priority for me would be the A/C

    #2 is the radio

Simple. I would also pair my phone and not worry about it. If it reboots it reboots and document the times that it does it. About every 2 months my Nav system thinks my truck is in another state for about 10-15 mins. It always corrects itself so it isn't worth my time to take in. Is it suppose to do that??? Nope. But there are worse things to worry about to me.

Hope you get it fixed in a timely manner. Just try to keep things in perspective. :)

That sucks and I will be pissed if when my truck hits 5k I have the same issues. Luckily all you are out is some time of taking it in for warranty repairs. Keep us posted on what other troubles if any you see.

I could give a shit less about the radio rebooting in the middle of enter sandman, a bit different when it dumps a fucking conference call with 35 people in a dozen timezones at 75mph on the expressway. I work from my vehicle, this is not exactly a non issue. I agree on the ac, that will get dealt with easy enuf. Called corporate, should hear back from a manager there tomorrow.
