Prayers coming to him and his family! It's safe to say we've all put ourselves in that situation, and never should. I do it all the time but that stops now

Damn, reading this right as I'm about to go out and do some maintenance on the truck. Gonna be extra careful now.

Holy shit. Sorry to hear that Joe! Hope the doctors can fix him up! Thats just scary and sad and shocking all at the same time...

My biggest fear is having the truck fall on me... I use 4 jackstands when I do anything anymore...

    Thanks guys!

Just went over to get the truck in drivway for him. It was half in the street when it stopped.
After further review of the evidence, he was doing the carrier bearing first. The truck front wheels where on blocks and he had a jack for back up. Walt just forgot the wheel chalks.

He was crushed when the truck came off the blocks then rolled down the driveway as the truck smashed him. End up pinned under the frame rail sideways facing down.

Both lungs collapsed, both collar bones and scapulas broke, rib cage is just in small pieces, bones around eye broke, bruised heart.

The man was still awake when resuce got there.

Prayers for Walt. It's few and far between when I actually say a prayer, but Walt is a great guy. Meeting him more than a couple times that guy is awesome and would help anyone in need.

I know for a fact none of you that I know good carry chocks with you and hopefully this will wake you up and youll spend the $8 to keep yourselves safe. Even though I may not be the safest with the hi lift I always chock my tires and they NEVER leave my trucks tool box (for trail emergencies). At almost every meet I need to remind you guys to do the same so I hope Walts story helps remind you guys.

    For sure! :)

I gotcha....... I hope you can figure something out! For that reason, I guess I'm lucky living in NM. I was never once bothered about my tires sticking out.
    Looking good, man! vvvvvv

Thoughts and prayers for your friend - I'm sorry that happened and it serves as a scary reminder for the rest of us to take as many safety precautions as possible.

    Another reminder:

Be aware of the ground surface you are jacking from or have jack stands on. Think about putting down something solid as a base.
A good friend had his car on jack stands, laying under the car to replace a fuel pump when the jack stands sunk into the deteriorated asphalt. His torso was pinned between the tire and the ground which knocked all of the wind out of him. Luckily a neighbor heard him pounding on the side of the car and they were able to jack the car back up. No injuries, just lucky and learned a lesson.

    Be safe guys.

x2... my backyard is always unsafe. last time my truck dropped was because the ground sank due to my stupidity and lack of using the orange hi lift base.

Ive been meaning to get good tall jack stands and some more wheel chocks. Maybe Ill take a drive today. Ive been under my truck the last 3 weekends.

Harbor freight 6 ton stands. 20 bucks each and they are giant. I want one of those hi lift bases.. I've dropped my truck a few times because of shitty ground and carelessness. Luckily no one got hurt and each time a new lesson learned.

Since we're talking about safety.. It's always a good idea when you take a tire off, stick it under the frame or the slider so if the truck falls atleast that might keep it from crushing you or someone else.

Hell yea. The day I met you I dropped my truck on the rotors. Not good. Now I always throw a tire under my sliders.

That's just dumb, what, do you lift the whole truck up to change a tire?
