I'm going to give Lyft a try out as a driver. Here in Phoenix I think I might be the first DCSB doing it, according to my mentor.

Anybody doing Lyft out of their DCSB?

My mentor says he consistently makes $250 a day. He doesn't have much incentive to blow smoke, and he is my age so he knows I'm not an inhaler. I'm not going to work it that much, but Fri/Sat nights he says is the motherlode.

While Phoenix is a "donation" city, they send the rider what he/she should pay and if the rider doesn't pay that amount they get a rating that means they won't get picked up again.

I'll let you all know if it works or not.

It probably doesn't work in all markets. It seems to be working pretty well here.

I've got a background that makes this pretty easy. Conceal carry and former military plus former state trooper. $50/hour for 6 hours a day 2 days a week works for me.

People smelling like piss and puking in my truck wouldn't work for me.

Hope it goes well I just couldn't do it.

You can't be serious. It's the drivers who should be worried about the random drinks they pick up.

I do Zimride whenever I'm traveling.

I pick the route, the times, and charge people to ride along. PayPal handles the money, and I stay happy.

That said, my taco wouldn't get good enough gas mileage to consider using it as a taxi.

If you can make it financially viable in the long run, good for you.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Liability. Wait until you get sued if you're ever in an accident-you're going to need to make $50/hr. No thanks. [IMG]

Driving the Taco for 6 hours a day, 2 days a week, on top of regular use, will rack up the miles pretty quick

CC or Paypal means the payment is traceable (i.e. it needs to be declared as income for tax purposes).

Lyft is said to provide $1 million per-occurrence liability insurance. Otherwise yea it would be in a gray area with your own insurance company.

I may or may not have overlooked that aspect of it, :anonymous: , yeah that is pretty sketch, it says drivers are insured as well though, against what specifically I don't know

It also seems that there is a passenger rating system and passengers are required to provide valid I'd and credit info, still sketch to me
