Found it online and had it shipped from Georgia to galveston. I paid 16.1k and another 900 for shipping for a total of 17k.
it had 49.5k miles on the clock and had up grades I liked. Mickey Thompson wheels and BFG Mud Terrains. Westen bar holding a 10,000lb Champion winch.
I added the ARE cap and steps. The steps are basically useless. I put a swing box on the drivers side and am about to install a Pioneer AVHX4600BT and back up camera and Cree spot lights.

Like the big campers or a topper?

The toppers would be too narrow I would think, the first gens are like a foot narrower.

    A foot?

Maybe the 1st gen "stepside", but not the standard.

The 2nd Gen is still smaller than the 1st Gen Tundra/T-100 by a significant amount. It's not as big as it looks.
The 1st Gen was about 66" wide not including the flares. 2nd Gen is about 72 not including the flares.
So overall, there's about 6" difference.

BUT... the 2nd Gen has a strange geometry going where the bed rails are narrower than the cab. My Snugtop rolls over the rails slightly to hide the seal and plastic bed cap, and I STILL do a double-take occasionally when standing at the rear of the truck and notice that the cab sticks out past the shell. Every time, my first thought it "Someone hit me and the bed shifted!"... but it's the same on both sides.

Good deal, I must have been thinking length! 6" is still pretty significant though.

Yeah reg cabs have different angles than access cabs. An access cab topper can fit a reg cab but it's not perfect and depending on the brand it may rub the brake light

Ya, RC is more straight up and down. Not sure how that translates to the 1st Gen though.
Wheelbase is also about 6" longer, but the Doublecab Long Bed is a couple of feet longer.

anybody know how to tell the difference between tire noise and rear differential whine. I have BFGoodrich all terrains on my truck and recently I got them rotated by the dealer. Now, when I drive at speeds around 60mph or higher, there is tons of noise. Not like before. Sounds like a high pitch pulsating sound

You can pull the driveshaft and check how much slop you have at the pinion.

To check the axle bearing see if you have vertical slop in the axles or look to see if the seals are leaking.

From the timing of it, sounds like it's a tire issue though. They wearing evenly? Balanced?

yes, from what they look like they are wearing evenly. also, the pressure in the tires are the same as before. Are these tires known for super loud noise? Instead of a whine, its more like high pitch rrrrrrrrrering sound that has a little wawawawawawawa to it. Sorry if its confusing. Sounds like they did before, just much louder and annoying as hell.

Sounds like tires to me. Normally if its something to do with the diff you'd know.

Ok, there doesn't seem to be any grinding or anything noticeable when driving other than noise. I'd hate to hear what true mud tires would sound like on these trucks.

Took the new truck up Engineers Pass today!!! This little truck put jeeps to shame. I was very happy with the performance.
