I believe that to SOME extent, but the BUMPERS and FENDERS are also "plastic" and match the color of the paint on the metal body PERFECTLY. So why are these other PLASTIC parts matching and not the plastic grill surround (nor the hood scoop insert....yea, today I noticed this was the same slightly off white color as the grill surround)?

Not yet....it's costing me more in time than it would to replace it. :(

Easier said than done! Remember originally the dealership agreed that the color was off and said Toyota said replace it but later changed their tune! Toyota doesn't want to do anything!

I'm sure that the SW 040 has changed over the years but coming directly from the factory you'd think it would be less of an issue. Yes, trying to match paint a new or replacement part, I can certainly see the difficulty one might have.

Well I'm REALLY INTERESTED to see if PB65stang's new grill surround coming from Toyota will match. If so, this will prove to us that the current ones being produced are the same color and they could easie swap them out if they really wanted to.

I'm sure painting plastic vs. metal does make a difference but there is plenty of other plastic pieces on these trucks that look just fine and match the metal pieces perfectly. Maybe the grills are painted elsewhere or maybe a bad batch of paint. Who knows.

You can't buy carpet for your house and have it come from 2 different rolls because the lot #'s will be different and the color may be off slightly so why paint auto parts separately? Doesn't make sense to me.

I do see cars on the road everyday where parts, usually bumpers, that are off and don't match in color. Considering most are bumpers I figure a good protion have been replaced and repainted due to fender-benders. A little more difficult to match a car that has seen some road time and weather over a few years.

    Just some thoughts. :p

I agree but now there could be a variance because the paint could change slightly batch to batch. Although if it's Super White and not Shitty Yellow then it would work. LOL!!!! :D

Try another dealership. You just can't give up because one dealership is giving you the run around. If they don't want to replace it then have them repaint the part so it matches the rest of the truck.:)

TacoTakover, I have a 2010 DCLB in Super White I bought new.

When I first took the truck the match was pot on, the body paint matched the grille surround.

Within a month, the colors began to become different. The grille was off compared to the rest of the bodywork.

The problem for mine was grunge absorbing into the paint. The truck had never been off-road at that point, was washed and waxed, but still road grunge was changing the color slightly.

I tried washing with various automotive cleaning soaps, tried waxing, and so forth. What solved the concern was I tried the oem supplied Toyota Cleaner / Polish / Wax. The stuff is called TOYOGUARD. This brought the white back to the grille.

The problem has never stopped, and with 4 1/2 years on this truck, the grille is the first item cleaned.

There may be other products that will do the same, but I found it not to be a mismatch on the paint, just some kind of absorbing of dirt that did not easily come off.

I do not know who makes TOYOGUARD, but if someone knows it would be kind to post it.

I have used Mothers Claybar and done the truck with it. That will also brighten up the white.

Hmmm, interesting! This has been mentioned before and I believe Taco Takeover is gonna give it a shot. Looking forward to hearing the results.

I have 2012 WHITE TRD Sport so the grill is Factory part and my grill is OFF comparing to other body parts. I have noticed this since day one.

I would expect his new grill to be slightly off from the rest of his truck.. If I read correctly his truck is an 08... That's years in the elements compared to something basically freshly painted..

Also I'm pretty picky and I think mines pretty spot on for being made from 2 different materials. ubama8u5_f61ac0840e79494ebaa87652d1dc670cdca527eb.jpgynudaput_1f33372abfae61f698b551874b519a26b6bd5026.jpg2uja8u4u_b9bac080b96104dd2b344a6063e250f789cd4477.jpg
