Dunno why you guys have such trouble with the front diff drain plug. Mine came right off yet again yesterday. Oh right, 1st gen. :stirthepot:

I've never had a problem with mine. That was Zak's 4runner :D. I checked my diff plug this spring after driving around all winter in the salt covered roads and it came loose without much effort. I don't torque mine down though just snug it hand tight. NJ DOT takes care of the rest

    Yep.
Had to weld a nut to my rear drain plug... that was due to the "protective" ring being destroyed by rocks and no longer being able to get a socket in there :p

The torque spec on them is basically hand tight, I think mine is 27ft-lb.

This is why I like have a diff diaper.

I need to try to break my rear one loose to do a flush. All front plgs for the diff, trans and transfer case broke free easy peasy.

Woot! Powdercoater just called. My stuffs done. Can't wait to pick it up tonight. Now I can start the rear end transformation.

Guys no joke - think I dropped off my stuff Thursday and it's done today.

You guys should of given me stuff to coat. I got KILLER deal. I'm giving him work professionally so my personal stuff was literally dirt cheap. I'm kicking myself in the ass for not having him do my rear bumper.

Are you still planning on tearing into the original motor before you swap it or just swapping them

Swap then tear into the old one over the next few years and part out the good stuff LOL. I need to swap out some small stuff like my pulleys from the old to the new, but the new engine is 99% complete so Ill rock that starter and alternator and save the old ones for spares. Will be nice to have a working AC compressor come summer time. Mine conked out a few years ago.
