Im haveing a annoying issue going on with my truck! When i come to a stop at a stop sign or light then i try to take off it will die! Unless i barley push on the gas then let of then repete the process again and aftr 2-3 times of doing this it drives just fine. It relly sucks when i try to take off it dies right in middle of tracfic and could cause a wreck.

THE CEL codes is po172 po172pd

I cleaned the MAF and checked for VAC leaks

I had this happen to me with an old car, turned out it was the brakes locking up cause they needed to be replaced, this is probably not the case with yours just thought I would put in my 2 cents

Cleaned the MAF sensor (it may be bad) how about 02 sensor ? It sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Does it miss or stumble under acceleration? Fuel filter ever changed ?

Have you checked for leaks in the exhaust? Exhaust gas leakage can trigger that CEL.

Front bank 02 sensor is crapping out most likely. It happened to me not that long ago.

yeah MAF has been cleaned. No missing at all while driveing it drives fine just stumbles at take off! exhust leak would be loud correct? the o2 senors is it the top or bottom one? and would'nt that have its own cel light? I can clear my CEL light and it dosent do it near as bad as when its on so i think its eather the MAF or O2 thats bad

Throttle Position Sensor. Try removing it and spraying it with electrical parts cleaner. It's held on with 2 very small phillips head screws and a small wiring harness plugged into it.

I had a similar issue with an 02 Tacoma. It would stutter and sometimes stall at stops, but was fine while moving. Cleaning the TPS resolved the problem. I don't know if there is a way to test the sensor, but perhaps it's faulty.

Well theres a local man here who has a rolled 1997 4runner he says it has the same engine as mine and he's parting it out so i will try and see if he will sale me the TPS then i will go from there and see if it fixs it if not then i will get the MAF and 02.

I know autoparts will test these senors for u but more then likely they will claim there bad even if there not just so u have to buy a new one from them.
