What do you 4x4 guys think about Fab-Tech products?

I have alot of prior experience with fabtech in my older trucks and i have to say that this product is pretty much for the on road driver. If you do go with fabtech then make sure you get the shocks upgraded instead of their crap white ones that come with most kits. if you are planning on off roading i might think about going another direction than fabtech, (their A arms are garbage) but to each his own. this is strictly my opinion though and things may have changed with the company in the years that i have owned my taco so think about what you want to do with your lift. IMO (Fabtech= parking lot warriors)

So what would someone who is planning to off road want to install to get a 6" lift?

 

I don't have any experience with Fab Tech myself but I have friends that do. There was one case with the A arms somehow broke causing the wheel to fall out. These were all on Silverado's. CST(CA Super Trucks) called FabTech and ProComp lifts "freeway lifts". These was back when Fabtech parts were blue (or black) and when they changed designs they changed colors also.

 

That could be interesting...... I want to see this one!

I don't know if I understand what you're asking.... Are you thinking that because its an X, you need more lift? That answer theoretically should be no, because the suspension basically gets replaced in a 6". Maybe a whole new leaf pack for the back. Only thing IMO that could be a problem is the shock mounts and crossbars that are in that thing. Different beast. I've never really crawled under one.

are you confused because you think DB lifts cant offroad?

 

look, it was expressed above by redrum that if one plans on off roading he or she may want to reconsider the fabtech lift so my question is: what lift should one consider if planning to off road and they want to achieve 6" of lift. There are other 6" kits that I have read about but fabtech has always been preffered over those other kits so I dont know what other options are out there.

I'm with a company called Sittin Sic that normally specializes in X-Runner lowering&performance suspension parts...

We can have Fab-Tech parts for sale also if there was an interest...

Not a Tacoma, but I had a 6" Fabtech lift on my Jeep Rubicon and I loved it, minus the shocks. It rode well on the street with 35" tires and flexed great off road. But the Jeep and Tacoma suspensions might be apples and oranges.

 

I don't think you have a clue about what you are talking about!

Fabtech uses the stock A arms. So I guess you're saying the stock Tacoma A arms are garbage?
