For those that have plasti-dipped their hoods, how many cans did it take? My clear coat peeled bad and I'd rather have a black hood than a nasty peeling hood.

Ok it's done.. The only bad part is where I taped it then painted it.. It peeled some of the rubber off.. Now all that's left is the rear bumper

It would take less time to remove most of the plastic pieces from the bumper than it did to tape them, just for anyone else doing this in the future.

The all black looks much better than the black truck with chrome accents and silver wheels

Thanks. I can confirm that is true...... the first time I dipped the rear bumper(pictured) somehow water got behind it a few days later and it started pulling away. So the second time I removed the whole bumper and then the plastic from the bumper and dipped the whole chrome piece. It was mush easier and no seams to worry about.

Just a few expensive & DIY things...
How are you guys washing your wheels after plastidip and lots of dirt?

I think my wheels got wax on them (car wash) after plenty of mud and dirt and now that look like garbage.
I'm not sure how tough to wash the wheels now before reapplying.

Any tips for painting the hood? My hood has most of it's clear coat missing so I'm going to Plasti-Dip it till I can repaint it or get a sport hood.

When I did my bumper last year I found that it was easier for me to tape everything off and then dip. It took me less than an hour to do so.

I am not sure what to say about that.

    Use Simple Green.

It's going to depend on how bad it is. If there is a bit of a raise from the clear coat to the paint, the PD is going to probably show that. Unless, you don't care. PD needs a flat surface to come out. Any imperfections the PD is going to show that, not hide it.

Plasti-dip comes in a clear coat, you could try that instead.

Clear is very thin. To make it work is going to be hard. They're better off using regular PD and waiting till they can repaint.

The color without clear got faded so I don't think it would have worked. Thanks for the tip though.

Yeah it had a lip to it, but I didn't care to clean it up. I was just sick of seeing the two different colors, so figured $10 and an hour later I'd have a new look. You can see the clear coat difference, but it's a lot better than before. Although you can see streaks when not in the sun. It will do for now. I'm going to get a sport hood soon, but didn't have the cash at this time.

    Here's the end result.
