Same here brother!!! Shackle flip will gain you 3/4 more clearance, ICON bumps will give you more clearance and a smoother cycle to full bump to stop the bucking and Omega's will make you ummmmm happy hahaha. Super tunable, even to the point you can tune out the freeway bucks. From slab to slab if you know what I mean? I will be running ICON bumps and bypass with my custom Deavers when I recoupe funds.

I would have to disagree, it's the defined kit, and I double checked with him it's about 13-14" he's running a custom shackle flip from defined and that helped even more with all the weight he is carrying. The biggest thing to consider is that both dean and my friend have a SHIT ton of weight they're carrying. I totally get what you're saying with the Ferrari comparison, but I think if it is set up correctly it will handle better! Plus having bedsides makes you THAT much wider on trails and we all know how tight some trails can be and those couple inches make all the difference.

Mr Grimm, just finished reviewing the 92 pages tracking your build. Your detail and dedication are appreciated. I recently finished building a 2013 Reg Cab and am now sorry I did not document the detail. The one aspect I was hoping to get more detail on was how you stuffed the tires without rubbing. You did not talk about cutting the frame, unless I missed it. Otherwise, job well done. Enjoy your rig and get out as often as you can.

Thanks. The build thread didn't start out like it is now. Got some ideas from other members.

As far as cutting the frame. I had the cab mount cut back, twice. The pinch weld was also flattened. Finally, I have the caster set at about 5 degrees. The only part I still rub is the very top of the inside fender we'll and that is at full compression. Have he camber set at 5 degrees definitely helped with the rubbing on the cab mount.

Find anywhere to offroad out here? I'm at CJ and the only thing I've heard of was a mud hole that's apparently off limits... Also, you need an Instagram lol.

I haven't found anywhere like out west. I have been too busy to real get any wheeling in. The beach can be fun for a short trip. What are you doing on this side of the country?

In the mean time I have been able to fire off a pair of Javelin missiles. At $75,000 a piece, that could have made a nice rig. $150,000 gone in 6 seconds...

Tyler mentioned something about the instagram when we were up at Big Bear. Maybe one of these days I will hop on there.

I've gotta ask you something bro!

You have a 4runner, right? How is it compared to the taco? If you were to heavily mod the 4runner like your taco would you be happy or would you pick the taco over and over? I am wanting your input on how you like the 4runner vs the taco.

    THanks!

HAD a 4runner. It was just way too nice for me to beat up offroad. The Tacoma is more versatile than the 4runner was. I can throw wet dirty gear in the back of the Tacoma and not worry about it stinking up the rest of the vehicle. I can throw a couple hundred pounds of dirt in the back of the Tacoma unlike the 4runner. If I had to choose again it would be the Tacoma.

Yah, I saw a few guys out at top sail. I was there for some pointless TAD. I had a good time while I was there though. I'm sure you already know this but, it looks like the combat instructor ribbon was approved, I could be wrong.

So the real question, SAS, I know you're venturing it. What size are you planning on running?

I saw that it was approved and saw what it looks like but that's about it. Nothing on MOL. Guess that is going to take a while too.

I am going to start gathering the parts for the conversion when I get back.

Yah, hopefully by the time you get back from deployment. Holler if you need anything, cards, drink mix, baby wipes...

Can't wait to see the solid axle set up, have you considered running bigger tires than 37s with the new axles?

Well here is my whole thought process on the 37's.

    1. I am not planning on changing out the rear axle right away. It already has 4.88's and an ARB locker so I will be good with that for a while. Eventually a D60 will go in there but not right away.

    2. 37's are cheaper and easier to find than the 40's when I am in far away places.

    3. I don't want the vehicle too tall as it is still a DD with my kids needing to get in and out of the truck.

    4. I would have to change up the tire carrier on the back with a 40" tire. And getting a 35" tire up onto the tire carrier takes a little work. I would definitely need another hand to get the 40" tire up there with the way the tire carrier is setup now.

    5. Plus I like the way 37's look on the DCSB.

    6. And last but not least, money.

This would be the perfect height for me.
