Hi everyone. I have an 07 TRD Sport with the mechanical LSD. When I go around a turn on pavement, only the inside tire or the "lighter" tire will spin. If I attempt a burnout on pavement, both tires will spin. On dirt and sand both tires will spin, but in a turn the inside tire will still spin much more than the outside or "heavier" tire.

It's been mentioned that I should change my differential oil? Can anyone explain to me what's happening here?

its an LSD not a locker.... it will only hold ~ 100-150ftlbs of difference between the two tires before slipping.

inside light tire in the rear has very little traction compared to the outside.... that 150ftlb difference aint nearly enough.

if you wanted to do drifts like a man.... shoulda forgone the plastic surgery of a scoop and gone with the trd off road.... just sayin :p

Also could be that your clutch pack is donezo and needs to be replaced... but even then your maxing at 150ftlbs of differential before slippage.

Yes. Your "Limited Slip" is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Leave it alone and quit doing "burnouts" you are just tearing up your truck.

Nevermind about the Burnouts, I noticed your user name " NumNutz". :)

Well Jimmy, thanks, but your response wasn't really too helpful. My differential is not acting like it's suppose to...

After replacing the differential fluid, I still had the same issue. So after asking people in the know (Gadget and Torspd) they think the clutch packs on the stock LSD are worn out. I'm not interested in rebuilding the stock differential just to have them wear out again. I'm going to helical-gears. I just ordered a Detroit TrueTrac :D

Burnouts and drifts to follow :burnrubber:
