Not really comparing apples to apples so not sure why we needed to hear about your buddy's splits. Carry weapons also have very little to do with competition firearms.

Is your buddy Jerry Miculek? Because I think his record is 5 shots in six tenths of a second, which works out to .12 splits.
So if your buddy's pulling .09's and .10's he needs to either start competing professionally or get his timer fixed.

    heh...
XD triggers are junk compared to the one on my Remington 700

The statement was made comparing the triggers. My point was that the trigger on an out of the box gun doesn't necessarily reflect what the trigger can potentially be. I don't leave anything stock. Even my carry gun. So if the trigger is important to you that information can be useful.

And Jerry's records were set with a revolver, nobody can touch him with one. But there are faster fingers out there with semi autos. That does not however make them better competitors.

I fail to see how a "competition pistol" has no relevance to a carry gun. My carry and competition guns are both Glocks with similar work done to them. Most people I know carry the same make of gun they compete with. For a few (IDPA guys), its the same gun.

Jerry shoots an M&P because S&W pays him, a lot, to do so. Not saying they aren't good guns. Never get caught up in " X shoots Y so Y must be good". People shoot what the best sponsors available give them to shoot. The guys that win will win despite the their gear, not because of it.

Jerry is one of the greatest exhibition shooters and competition shooters in history. But that's not because of his trigger speed alone. There are people that can replicate and in some cases beat it. Jerry is great because of his transition times, his ability to shoot on the move, his ability to plan, choreograph and execute a stage plan, his seeming inability to miss, ect. He has one of the greatest understandings of vision techniques and movement in the game. He also has more experience (by decades on most cases) and better sponsorship than pretty much anyone in history (outside the AMU). He has the sponsorship money to spend more time on the range than pretty much anyone. Don't kid yourself into thinking Jerry's finger or equipment made him what he is. Hell, before S&W jumped into the AR market he was shooting DPMS rifles, which have never been deemed top tier rifles by anyone, including DPMS.

I currently have four pistols in my summer rotation, a M&P Shield, a STI LS9, a Colt GM 380, and a S&W Bodyguard 380. If the guys at Armscor ever get the a380 released I'll likely pick one up, retire my Colt, and add the RIA A380 to the rotation.

Yeah, ironically you can bring 11 pounds of ammo per person in checked bags on most airlines. On Alaskan Airlines domestic flights you can bring 50 pounds of ammo per person in checked bags.

I just had a buddy carry over 500 rnds of 5.56 and in the boxes it was 12 pounds. TSA and United had no problem with it. The problem is 500 rnds is the low end of bulk which does not leave much room to practice. I will leave the political rants about why alone.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
does not have to be factory sealed...

Small arms ammunition, including ammunition up to .75 caliber and shotgun shells of any gauge- Check with your airline or travel agent to see if ammunition is permitted in checked baggage on the airline you are flying. Small arms ammunitions for personal use must be securely packaged in fiber, wood or metal boxes or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. Ask about limitations or fees, if any, that apply.
