soon I am going to go on a road trip in my '14 DCSB and was wondering about protecting from bugs. I don't mind the truck getting dirty but the bugs can be a huge pain to remove. I am wondering if anyone has used a plastic wrap or something like it to wrap the front end of the truck so that it can be easily removed once I reach my destination? Traveling through the night so bugs will be plenty... Thought it might help keep the front end clean. Any thoughts?

I've cleaned many a roadtrip bug.

Trouble is - the places you'd most want to cover, headlights, grill, etc... you can't.

Just put a good coat of wax on ahead of time.

Plastic wrapping the front end would be a bad idea (depending on the extent) you want to keep air flow through your rad so you don't overheat.

Dryer sheets (ala Bounce) moistened with water seem to be a favorite with RV'ers for bug removal.

for those glasses/plastic surfaces you cant cover, use rain-x or aquapel as a base coat.. makes removing bugs easier when you fill up.

Bump for edm3rd suggestion. Here in florida we get the annual "love bug" problem. Massive amount of bugs that will mess your paint up if not removed in a timely manner. Clothes dryer sheets work excellent. Wet them and a little elbow grease and wash it off. works better than any other product I have tried.

Wax or sealer beforehand followed by quick detailer spray and reapply as necessary.

You'll be amazed how easy even dried bugs come off of a nice slick wax job.

Rain X the windows and wax the headlights, and fill your windshield washer reservoir with Rain-x bug wash, the green jug.

Guess ive never found it all that hard to remove the bugs to warrent needing to do anything special.

I wash and wax it once a year (2-3 coats of wax).

When i have driven to San Diego (from seattle more or less) and back I just take it to a car wash. The foaming brush work pretty dang good and the "pressure" washer works good for anything the brush didnt knock off. Just got to check the brush before use to make sure it is clean.

When I drove from California to Illinois, I had plenty of bugs, waxed it before the trip. Took me a few washes and some attention to the front end yo completely remove bug guts. My last wash I used some vinegar on the stubborn guts and it came.off much easier.
