From looking at the powdercoat on your sliders compared to my demello sliders, it seems that your powdercoat isn't very thick. I would assume that this has something to do with them rusting easily.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
It's a standard 3mil to 5mil we use Electorstatic spray that is a standard in the industry. Your sliders could be Fluidized bed dipped resulting in a 5mil to 12mil thickness. Or have more then one coat there is also different types of powder that lay on thicker.

When i got my old sliders from the previous owner he had used that spray on bed liner... While it was nice and had grip even when wet, it used to come off in chips all the time... Id wash my truck and have little bed liner chips all over the place.

 :brianr: and I am off tomorrow too :pout:

I think it's a matter of preference to be honest. I know a lot of people like the flat look for their sliders which powder provides really well. Over time powder fades but still has that flat look. I prefer a glossier look so that's why I prefer paint.

Well that's what they are made for so they should be able to "plow" into rocks unless they were sold for looks only.

To the local guys - when you get great pricing from new vendors - watch your ass. Ask questions. What kind of powder is it? How many coats? Has it been salt spray tested?

The small start ups are great for low prices, but unlike larger companies they seem to never do proper R&D. The above is a prime example. Company states they have no idea if their powder will hold up in salt states meanwhile they have been selling to them for years. Skids sold for looks only and no R&D done. The two guys I know who had them obliterated them on day one. R&D and listening to feedback (from me) would of solved that immediately.

Moral of the story is - it's your money so if you want to throw it away don't ask questions and shop on price only. If you want good shit - buy from companies like King and Total Chaos who do proper R&D. Total Chaos is expensive because they do R&D and that costs money. hey also have parts engineered by an engineer - not simply some guy drawing in CAD or solid works. Shit I draw in CAD every day - doesn't mean I'm a structural engineer like the guy in the office next to me.

    gloss also attracts less contaminants

In the end ARB is the only company I would ever buy anything powder coated from. All their stuff is tested and engineered to work across the word witho0ut failing.

Budget is also a personal concern. I should have mentioned that as well when determining powder vs. paint.

Ant and I were talking about this last night and we quickly discussed budgets for both. I did not publicly state what I paid for my powder coat, but it was not expensive and using that number we figured out costs would be less if the powder lasts 3-4 years than to repaint or touch up every year. We did put a $$ number on time, because we both value it as everyone should. In the end it's all personal preference. Some people do not mind prep and painting and actually enjoy it. I am not one of them so after years of painting I decided that I would have to be literally crazy to keep doing the same things year after year and expecting different results. Thus I powdered everything I could except my rear bumper because it doesn't get rock chips and is constantly dragging over stuff.

To be perfectly honest, I got tired of complaining to you. You have an excuse for everything, it seams, and didn't take responsability for any of my issues.

When my sliders came out beat to hell you told me you have no control over how the shipping company handles the stuff. Yes you do, if you continue to get complaints about beat up product, and poor shipping, get a different freight company. At the very least you should give the customer a heads up before you give them something powder coated. If I buy a new prefinished product, I want it to look new.

When I told you my LCA skids never got to me you said I needed to file a claim, which I disagree with, but I tried anyway. They needed a weight of each item, u gave it to me. Turned out the weight of the entire shipment, on the receipt, was consistent with the weight of the sliders alone so the freight company obviously didn't accept liability for the skids. All you did was assure me the LCA skids were there, so I just had to deal with it, and make sure my friends thought before they dealt with you.

Saying King or TC has no difference salt is hard on everything Hell I've seen you talk shit about your UCA's because the Uni ball couldn't hold up to the salt in your state. There are KING/FOX shocks that you can't even spin the spanner because of salt pitted the shock. Did KING not put enough coating on them no it's salt and it get's into everything.

And again the LCA thing there has been 3 people that have contacted me that the bolt popped off from them slamming the front into a rock and I modified that so that wouldn't happen.
Same go's with an ifs skid I've seen people pop the heads of the bolts by hitting the front hard pushing it back I was one of them on my bud built it happens.

Shitty customer service if you ask me... If something didn't show up and the freight company had no record of it ever being on the pallet I would look into it myself if I was a business owner... Customer comes first no matter where they are in the country

Deflect all you want....I could care less. You'll never see any of my money and I established that years ago. Don't try and compare great companies to yours - you guys aren't even on the same playing field.

My Kings are 5 years old and the threads are ALL perfectly OK along with the rest of it. I have a small patch of rust starting in the fronts due to repeated rock strikes. Everything else is perfect and they will outlive the competitions finishes any day.

TC used to ship their UCA's with chrome balls because it's a harder substance that wears less in CERTAIN conditions. After a season of salt guess what....the chrome rusted like all chrome will. I notified TC and they gave me a deal on new FK stainless balls and have since stopped using chrome balls to stop the issue.

    Did I bitch...yes. Did they listen....yes.

When I spoke to you over a year ago you deflected like you are now.

Just admit your mistakes, improve your systems so they stop happening, and start doing some R&D.

You only had a few emails with me about your shipment and you stopped emailing me. The shipper removed your sliders from the pallet I had no hand in that and I'm reading emails right now on what you told me. there was defiantly an issue with your shipment and they would of payed you maybe they did you never contacted me again after I sent this.

"I can assure you they were on the pallet I strapped it myself"

According to what rebellimo just posted they were not on the pallet... Ever... The shipping manifest only included the weight for sliders... Not for LCA skids and sliders...

To clear all that up with him I would have looked into it myself... If I got no where with the claim files with the shipper I would changes shippers and send him a new set of LCA skids... THAT would be customer service...

I talked with Craig personally with what happened to his LCA skid when he hit the rock and if it wasn't for the bolts shearing off his alignment would of been trashed. We do R&D and there was no issues found with the skid until Craig sheared off the bolts.
