 Glad they worked out solid for ya!

Excited to get the tent on my truck, have a trip planned for a few days at the end of this month where I'll be putting it to use so finding a used RTT for a good deal locally was perfect timing. Otherwise was going to look into CVT as I could pass though Bend OR on my trip but sounds like they're back ordered anyways so I was thinking I was going to be RTT-less for the trip. Not anymore! :bananadance:

Looks to be. I've wanted one for a few years, just never pulled the trigger on one of them til now. And if I end up not using it or not liking the one I bought then at least I wont take a big price hit since I'm already buying a year old used one. :)

I just did the Masonic to the southern end of Mono over three nights and it was awesome. Roll into camp, take the cover off, tip it up, and good to go for a beer!

Oh, and we camped in the dunes-very little sand where it doesn't belong :D

Won't need my Wind Deflector for the RTT anymore, going to redo the bedrack lower...I got some scrap aluminum from a local metal place, then wrapped in in black vinyl.

What is that piece on the bottom the eye bolts screw through? We were looking for something to use to mount our tent other than the flat plates that came with the tent (round rack bars). We looked at things like pipe straps and conduit strapping. trying to find something rounded for better surface area.

I have a question for those of you with the extended canopy / annex tents (ex: CVT Shasta or Tepui Autana).

When you fold up/pack up your tent, what do you do with extra material for the extended canopy? On a couple of dry runs, no matter how I try to pack it into the side, it all seems to come out once the tent lies flat and closed. This means I have to walk around the truck, climb up on the side (standing on the tire or bed side) and tuck everything back in (not as easy when the tent is closed and one hand is holding the tent open).

Is there a good video of someone packing up the tent? All the ones I've seen are abbreviated (i.e. they show highlights, but cut out a lot of small details).

I usually have the same issue and have just dealt with it. My one solution that works sometimes is to throw the guy lines for the extension in under the mattress and they will sometimes help the extra material stay in. I do agrre with you that it is a pain.

You'll be fine in the winter. I live in CO and camp in mine all year round the tent is cold for a few mins until you get in and warm it up. My dogs sleep inside my 4runner. But my pointer has slept in mine with me. She can negotiate the ladder some days. Most of the time I lay a blanket on the hood and she jumps on it and walks up the windshield and in the tent through the window. My lab has no desire to enter the RTT.

Yup...good thing to wake up to

Tanks...that's one of my favorite places to stay. I was surprised it was empty last night since it was a holiday weekend and all.

I have a question for the RTT pros. When you close up your tent and head home, and find a lot of condensation under your mat, what is the best way to dry it out?

Is it better to set the tent up at home (fold it out and attach annex, if you have one) and let it air dry - or let it dry in the sun with the cover off, but the tent folded to expose the anti condensation mat better?

I usually try to set mine up for a day and remove the mattress so it can air out in the sun

Always best to dry as soon as possible. So put it away last and if you need to, set it up at home to dry/clean.

Open it all up when you get home and pull the mattress out to air it out. The rest will dry/air out quickly in the sun.

^ This. I used my RTT for the first time this weekend. It was pretty chilly camping at 11,500 ft, so had most of the windows closed. There was considerable condensation on the inside of my tent. I just set it up when I got home for about an hour and the wind/sun dried it out real fast. I assume this will just be part of the post camping chores! Just like I used to do with my ground tent after a weekend of camping.

Yeah I was 10,500 by Pike's Peak this past weekend and it got a bit chilly in the wee hours of the morning. I just left it open in the sun for a bit before we left camp and the condensation was gone. Opened it up today for most of the day in 95 degree heat in Denver. It is dry now for sure. :)
