Core / Hurst short throw shifter

It's like putting on an old comfortable shoe. I have owned that T handle since 1994.

I as well like the T bar shifter. I have the URD SS and a chopped stock lever.

You say the Hurst is alot better than the URD SS. I like the URD, the only gripe I have is shifting into 3rd. Sometimes it gets a little grindy. Everything else is good though.

 

I'd blow 2nd every now & then with the URD...

The core/hurst is on a different level.

 

Mines been installed for over a month now. LOVE IT. Had to trim some of the plastic around the shifter hole to get clearance for the stick when in R,1,3,5... not much but had to.

These pictures show how it sits compared to stock. up and a hair forward. Took these shots from the exact same spot from the side.

 

I agree with Homer, and once you start using a T handle, you won't go back to a ball shifter.

I was less than precise with mine.

Once I do the body lift I the console fitment should be a bit better. That sucker was super tight to get back on!

Yes but only because it helps with the crawlbox mod.

 

I finished the install of the core shifter and my custom shifter handle
and it does come straight up and NO I don't bust my hand into the heater
and it is shorter than the stick that came from core and is very beneficial
this is what an fabricator can do
it is 2 inches from the controls in 1st and 3 in neutral and 5 in 2nd and also no problem in reverse just like I described in a earlier post with the pistol grip handle

anyone have trouble removing the plastic cup from the stock shifter? Any suggestions?

 

Just lift up on it and it will come off.

You're going to love it. Also the install isn't that bad. The only annoying part is putting the plastic cover with the boot back over the shifter.....Everything else is very straightforward.

Took me just over an hour, not bad. Really love the way it shifts now.

 

It's surprising to me that more manual trans guys have not gone this route. I don't drive the truck as often anymore as it's not my DD but it still puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. There's some additional mechanical noise but the enhanced shifting makes up for that IMO.

 

I have a urd ss and one of coupes modded shifters. Thinking about this to replace that but I don't want anymore noise than what I already got :/
