I'll get a lot of negative feed back for saying this, but you can do HID bulb replacement to get brighter headlights. its A LOT cheaper than replacing the whole housing, and even though they "blind people" (which now most cars have halogens in them that are just as blinding), i have mine and love them.

Illegal. But I have the same. Mine aren't terribly blinding. And it also depends on LE in your area

Definitely. Lots of people like the better halogen bulbs, there's also an LED kit(quite expensive), and HIDs. HIDs really need a projector retrofit, but those are also quite expensive

According to Amazon these Sylvania bulbs won't fit my 2011 Tacoma....can anyone confirm if that's accurate? According to the sticky in the Lighting thread these should fit.

05 to 011 headlights are the same . I would walk in a auto parts store & look in the light bulb catalog to be sure..:)

I've even waiting also haha there are people on here who take the stock housing and modify it to whatever you want, and they look awesome but are expensive. Also I'd rather have a manufacture make them so there's a warranty involved

But in the mean time, DDMtuning.com has a HID replacement kit for $50ish that will give you the brightness you want, and that way when new headlights come out, your HIDs will fit into the new housing

DDM tuning kits are junk. I have had nothing but probs. Also remember, a drop in kit is illegal, and will blind other drivers. And if your referring to getting a kit, then doing a retro, the bulbs are different between stock housing and projectors

I've heard that too from people… but I've had them on my vehicles for 3 years and never had one issue. That was the harness went bad and they replaced it in like 2 weeks.

And yes they are illegal and blinding, but like i stated before, most halogens/led set ups even from manufactures are just as blinding. Just letting him know the options, whether illegal or not

Get the Putco Mirror White's. Better than the Slyvania or any other O'reillys junk lights.

    The factory bulbs are halogen.

Non-halogen lamps have not been used in headlights since the old sealed beams of the 60s and 70s went away.

I'm talking about the more referred to halogens, is in the whole housing. The retrofit light housing + a brighter halogen bulb. Most dealerships and description just call those halogens for easy distinguish between a normal housing and bulb set up

    That makes absolutely no sense.

Retrofit projector housings that still use halogen lamps are horrible... the light output and pattern on the road is WORSE than the stock housings and lamps.
Commercial retrofit housings with HID lamps are comparable to the factory road illumination.... the patterns sucks, but at least they don't blind other drivers.

This is totally getting away from what I meant for him haha

I was comparing the "halogens" you get from a dealership, like my mothers jeep. Those "halogens" are more blinding than my HIDs in the stock tacoma housing.

    E558BDCE-F9FD-4447-9D7F-B67A1DC4147E_zps_10239cc0c0d40783c93d6e846d055c04a2aa2135.jpg

^^whatever you want to call these. When my parents chose their jeep at the dealership, these were named as "halogens". That's what I'm referring to. Whether it's the right name for it or not, it's what dealerships call their "halogen" headlights

So the above headlight set up is just as blinding if not more blinding than the scattered light of an HID kit in the stock tacoma headlights.

Understand what I'm trying to say?
