What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nice I have been looking at Getting the 12" 2.0 resi's. Love my king c/o's

 

Their pretty nice so far. The rear end rides like butter now. I just need to fix a few things up front and I'll be smooth all around.

 

02 here with the cable above the leaves. I think if you have have abs the cables go below the leaves like that since the abs sensor is in the 12o clock position on trucks equipped with it. At least from what I've seen comparing my non ABS truck to trucks with it.

 

Mine is an 04 and the cable runs below the leafs. You can clearly see it in my build thread pics.

With abs?

 

My old 03 was below. My 01 is above.

 

They both have abs?

 

03 yes, 01 no.

 

I think you figured it out. Mine has ABS and the cable is below.

My 02 is above the leafs no ABS.

 

I've always wondered why some are below and some above, nice to know why. Mine are above the leaves and I'm non-ABS. I like that it puts the ebrake HW high and out of the way of rocks and branches, etc. But, it can cause a problem if you go to thicker leaf packs, as someone already mentioned, but I'd never switch them to below.

My buddy's early Tundra has the e-brake HW below. I thought it was just a Tundra thing, but now I assume its because he has ABS.

 

I thought they moved it behind the axle in 03.

 

1998 TRD V6, no ABS and my e-brake runs above the leaf packs/axle.

 

This was actually yesterday but packed the Ol truck up to go the new home!

'96, cable on top, no abs. I always wondered what the reason was behind it varying on different years too.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that all tacomas up to and including 02 were above the leaf pack and 03 and 04 were below the leaf pack. ABS doesn't matter it is the year of the truck that makes a difference.

 

My 89 without ABS and my 98 with ABS both above the leaf.
