Most will tell you to skip the bull bar...maybe get the Avid OffRoad light bar...better looking than a bull bar, and offers a bit of actual protection.

Not that they aren't cool, they just don't protect like people think they do. If you're doing it because you like the way it LOOKS, people won't have an issue.

Im really just getting mine to put lights on it. Because i dont wanna get a huge all pro bumper or something to bog my truck down because 4 banger probs :/ Also do you have to take the factory skid plate off on the bottom to put the bull bar on. Looking at the Westin black one

Stay away from a Bull Bar. They make your truck look like it has a underbite IMO.

No you don't. I went with the DeeZee Black Bull Bar off of Amazon for about 160 and have hella 500 halos mounted on it. Although I am getting rid of it for the hybrid bumper from SOS Offroad Concepts :D

I like the look of them, but they lack any sort of practical function. When I see one on a truck thats full of bolt on parts and shiny MT tires I immediately think mall crawler. Not that thats a bad thing, just not my cup of tea.

In a fender bender they multiply damage.
If you mount lights on them and wheel hard they bounce all over.
They get hung up on obstacles.
Made of cheap thin metal that rusts out
The engineering behind their mounting methods is totally lacking

I'd recommend an Avid bar. It is actually functional.

I prefer the Avid bar. Here it is on my 2010, I have the same one on my 2013. It looks like the ends could slice open a car door if some stupid driver tried to cut in too close to me. It also has the benefit of deterring parking lot dings in the front and it gives me a place to sit while enjoying a beverage in the garage.

I just installed this one from Go Rhino this morning. Pretty happy with it. I wanted a mounting platform for some extra lights and a little extra protection for the plastic grill. Out of the box and installed in less than 20 minutes.

Seems like that would obstruct the cooling...I dunno.
I myself ,would rather go with something lighter to save on weight.
You ready have the engine/driver/passenger weight on the front axle.
Does anyone know the weight of these bull bars offhand?
