if you let the air outta your tires like i do when you go offroadin, have you ever went to air your tires back up and had to hunt for your psi gauge? well i have a simple cheap solution, go to walmart or anywheres that sells those cheap $5 sunglasses holders for your visor and put it on your visor and put your gauge in it. the foam will hold it tight and its going to be hard to close at 1st but just push and the foam will give., hope its useful to yall! i will post a pic later of mine.

I have since figured out the problem. The bulb did wiggle loose and was not burned out. I have since tightened the prongs inside the plug and both have worked for several months.

thats what i had to do to mine to get em to not wiggle any more, ive had this mod done for 7 months now, no problems wit heat meltin the lense or anything like that, i was goin to put them in my front corner lights *00 taco* to replace my 194 bulbs, kinda make a cheap set of foglights, worked great for like 5min til i smelt something burning and then realized it was melting the back of my plastic houseing for my corner lights... i was hoping it would work, gave me alot of side angle view

if only i could afford more stuff to hook up to it. the aluminum piece looks a little big, but it's on purpose. planned to use the open area to mount any relays that might be needed.

2009 Tacoma - Best Mod ever
    Thanks!

As advertised: 10 minutes and a screwdriver. When I finished, I could hardly believe how easy it had been.

Then I got mad. Why isn't this standard? Price diff for Toyota...$20? Maybe?

So I packed my 2 speed wiper switch up in the box from my new switch, and typed up the following letter:
    Mr. Yoichi Tomihara
    President
    Toyota Canada Inc.
    1 Toyota Place,
    Scarborough Ontario, M1H 1H9
    Dear Mr. Yoichi Tomihara

I am the proud owner of a new Toyota Tacoma. I bought this truck two weeks ago and I am very impressed with this vehicle. Your company should be very proud of making such an outstanding product.

My one complaint about this truck is the inadequate standard 2-speed windshield wiper control, which lacks intermittent and spray + wipe features. Every vehicle you sell, with the exception of the Tacoma and Base Tundra, has intermittent wipers standard. From the base model Yaris hatchback on up, every model has this standard feature. For some reason your company neglects to add this feature to your Tacoma, even though every Tacoma now features power windows and door locks. This seems like an embarrassing and puzzling oversight on the part of Toyota.

I am not the type of person to quietly accept having inferior (and, in my opinion, less safe) features in my Tacoma.

Therefore, I am sending my wiper controller back to you. I do not need this item in my truck. Do with it as you wish, but might I suggest you place it on your desk as a reminder that, although Toyota is rightly considered the best car company in the world, there is always room for improvement.

    Just something to think about.

    Sincerely,

I don't know if it will make a difference, but at least my voice will be heard...probably by an executive assistant somewhere. What else am I gonna do with the stupid switch, anyways?

BTW, the new part# for the 2009s (84652-02610) works properly in my truck (not backwards as I had read somewhere).

Thanks to all at the forum for giving me hours of entertainment and new things to dream about adding to my truck.

    Cheers!

The parts will interchange will no ill effect. The backwards confusion is that in pre 2008: the intermittent speed selector works opposite in rotation to 09 models.
Rotate the collar backwards (counter clock-wise looking down the control stalk to the steering column) on 08's is the slow intermittent setting. On 09's rotating the collar backwards is the fast intermittent. All the markings will be accurate no matter which unit you install.

I never noticed it until I read the post your referring to. Now it bugs the hell out of me when I drive my other cars, switch to the Tacoma and vise-versa!

Oh yea, and that letter is funny as hell!:D

Okay, I looked at my switch. It is configured so the lowest speed is at the bottom, and the fastest is at the top (This makes sense to me) Then I had a look at Roland's pics of his with the old part, and it looks exactly the same. Only difference I see in mine is that a lot of the words have been replaced with pictographs. That's it.

Since I have never owned any vehicle with more than one intermittent speed to choose from, it seems to make sense this way. Ah, Tacoma: A mystery wrapped in an enigma. Hey, those would make good car names. Ford Mystery and Hyundai Enigma. Nice.

I mailed my stock wiper switch away today. I wonder if I will get some sort of response?

    Cheers!

First time Tacoma owner. Just bought me a 09 double cab in speedway blue. I love it! As with most that I have read, I didn't want all the shinny bells and whistles. Have the fun is doing it yourself. Any way, just completed my first 2 mods. I did the daytime running lights and the wiper mod. Both went super fast and thanks to all of you that have posted photo of your installs. It really helps!

    Next cruise controll....

    Thanks Tim

Can't find it, but there's a DIY thread on thnis somewhere in here.

Also check on Toyota nation forum.

There's a seller on ebay that sells everything you need in one kit. I paid about $20 for my blue LED kit but haven't had enough nerve to give it a go yet.
