I have everything preassembled and ready to go.
backup camera tapped into power at rear L backup light, RCA snaked to dash.
    Microphone routed, etc.
Mainly what is holding me up is a micro motion bypass switch-hurry up UPS.

    My big question is this...

Off the factory Pioneer harness is a "Violet/Purple" wire labeled as "Reverse Gear Signal Input".
This is a short wire like the rest of the harness wires, unlike the long green Parking Brake wire which leads me to believe that I don't have to fish and snake this wire to a long tap in which I don't even know where to tap this purple wire into.

    Does anyone have a answer:confused:

There is probably no easy answer so this is a quote from the Pioneer manual with a question to follow.

    "Violet/White
Of the two lead wires connected to the back lamp, connect the one in which the voltage changes when the gear shift is in the reverse position. This connection enables the the unit to sense whether the car is moving forwards or backwards."

    END Quote.

Surely they are not expecting me to run a 15' long wire snaking all the way back to the reverse light again. There has to be a better way.
I don't understand why the wire supplied is so short.

    Stumped.:(

look here for the location of the reverse wire. which is optional. you only need it if you have a backup camera...:

I ran the reverse wire from my Pioneer Avic 6000 to the driver side lower kick panel of my 05 TRD OR. There is a factory gray plug connector with 10 leads coming out of it ( this plug is toward the bottom of the kick). The red/white colored one was the reverse light circuit. I tapped into that wire, fished a 16 or 18 ga. wire back through the dash to the radio. Hope that helps
