Hey all. i recently just put a new head on my 95 tacoma 2.7 auto with 2 or 3 inches of body lift. (not sure bought the truck lifted already). anyways there is one plug that we didnt get plugged in and i cant find where its supposed to go. it comes out of the same harness as the injectors and the diagnosis plug on top of motor. if anyone has any input that would help alot.

I think that's the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor). Should lead down to just under/behind the alternator on the right side of the motor.

OP, if it won't run, LFTDJEEP is most likely right, the CPS.

Yeah it plugs into the block right behind the thermostat housing. Might have to route the wire down the center of intake plenum. What hose is that running over the top of the plenum assy?

Are you sure that plug isn't for the CAM position sensor? I think the crank sensor is in the block near the alternator.

that's what I was thinking, cam sensor is under throttle body right along the same plane as the injectors if I remember right.

The CAM sensor is in the head, between the #2 and #3 injector. You might have to remove the intake tube above it, to be able to even see it.

It is a knock sensor. I checked mine. It also is on your 2.7 engine. I can help you find it. Look over drivers tire from outside. You have to stretch the thin rubber skirt up to get a view. Look directly above the fuel filter. It's almost behind the filter and toward the front of truck. It's there. GL So here is a pic from my 95.5. Like I said!!! My 96 2.7 has the same. But I think it is a knock sensor.

my 97 ran without the cam sensor plugged in, but your probably right about not having one. I just realized you have a 95 and should have a distributor. From my understanding the 95-96 with distributor don't have a cam sensor but the 97 and up with individual coils do. Maybe they run the same harness and had antissipated on running the cam sensor but didn't til later years or maybe someone swapped harnesses at some point or it has nothing to do with a cam sensor and we're back to square one. If you haven't already maybe pull it taught in all directions and that will give you a radius to search within for something to hook it to(but I'm sure you've looked) if nothing maybe its just an extra plug for an accessory you don't have or somethin. Does it look like its been connected to something I.e. Clean on the inside?

    That's some good advice Brandon.^^^^.
99% it's a knock sensor. I have the same setup as op. Hope op lets us know the conclusion!lol
