    Tannerite is some badass stuff.
I have a friend (a stupid friend) who shoots it next to bottles of butane. He said it rattled the doors on their shop.
    There was alcohol involved...

Anyone cut their exhaust off directly behind the muffler? My exhaust pipe is rusted through just past the muffler hanger so I'm probably just finish the job and cut the remaining pipe off. Is there any problem since the short section of pipe running into the muffler will be parallel to the ground?

Lookin good! I'm curious, what was your reasoning behind getting the frame plates. The folks I see with them are usually desert runners. Again, just curious.

Why put the plate on the outside of the frame? I thought those plates were to box that portion of the frame.

frame plates are a great idea for our trucks. our frames are really week around that bend under the bed. tugging on straps or being yanked out form the rear, excessive weight payload or pure being mean to the truck.... no its not as good as boxing the frame, but frame plates double the thickness of the frame. great idea, and cheap insurance

    Gotcha. Sounds good.

I did notice that the frame isn't boxed from the bed back. But I figured the spare tire mount made it a bit more rigid. I wonder if that plate kit has notches for the shock mounts and spare tire mount...

they make it for inside and outside. i didn't want to take the spare tire or the bed off to box the inside, the plates will do for now.

Thats why I haven't done this. However, if you don't box the frame, all you are doing is transferring the stress loads to directly in front of where the plate is welded. If boxed, the load is evenly spread over the entire length.

Dunno, this may be completely fine but it doesn't make sense to me.
