New Issue----Installed my new leaf springs and they are already almost flat?

I installed my new leaf springs today from general spring and they are not arched the way I thought they would be. I was wondering it were normal for new leafs to sit like this.

 

Did you forget a pic?

 

Did u measure ride height before and after to see if you got any lift? or were u just going for OEM ride height? As long as you got the height you were looking for I wouldn't worry about it...

 

Ok here is some more info, I replaced the stock leafs with general spring standard leafs, which are better than the toyota stock ones. I did gain about an inch on both sides.

It does ride a whole hell of a lot better, could it possibly the rear shocks as well?

 

they are flat.... but not terrible. i would think new leaves that are "better" than oem wouldn't be flat

 

I think you have more problems than just flat springs, it's called rust.

 

Its kind of frustrating because I read a lot of good reviews about general spring and like I thought that these springs would give me alot ore arch than that..

 

The frame is fine, the pictures dont do justice, the bed was taken off not too long ago, and I was under there all day today.

 

do have wight in the bed?

 

Full tank of gas and thats about it. The shocks are the original ones though

 

Shocks don't provide any lift... Just springs. And as long as you retained proper ride height you're fine. More arch would mean more lift. If you don't want more lift those springs are fine

 

I guess I just expected more arch because they were new, when the truck was up on the jack stands today the arch looked real good, the old ones were literally bent flat when they were even up off the ground.

 

They are supposed to be like that. If they were arched way down with the weight of the truck on them they would provide no "spring" which would essentially be a hard-tail truck.

 

Thats how they live. These trucks don't have a typical leaf spring arch

Just did leaves on my buddies 09 and i thought they'd have a little more arch than the broken ones but it wasn't much. I guess that is toyota's secret to more flex

I can't complain, they work

 

My ome lift springs don't have a huge arch but they still provide lift and support a loaded bed.

 

This was my first time replacing them since I have had the truck so its all in the learning experience!

 

You are fine, though depending how many miles you got and if you wheel at all I would strongly consider replacing those shocks. Especially if the new leafs gained you an inch worth of lift.

 

The truck has 130K on it, I am not sure if thats alot for shock, but new ones are next up. I dont wheel quite yet, but I do go offroad for work a lot
