Let me clarify. There are alot of Jeeps that never see dirt either. However, as a percentage, more people wheel Jeeps than anything else. Personally, I kinda like it that way. It makes my truck unique on the trail. Its all about trade offs.

My truck will never be as capable as a Jeep on the trail. The IFS and limited aftermarket guarantee this. However, a Jeep will never be as capable as my truck from a purely utility purpose.

Today I swapped my 881 coils for some 883s to support my new to me ARB bumper and Superwinch. I used the floor jack method and it went great. I left the 10mm spacer in and I'm glad I did, front now sits just a 1/2" lower than the back, perfect IMO, I'll get some pics tomorrow

Just you tube some exhaust for Tacoma's. You'll hear a lot of different exhaust from mag, flowmaster and borla. I personally like the flowmaster super 50 series for my 2.7 engine.

    True.
But I can say this about the Tacoma. I go wheeling with guys with built jeeps running 37's and I take all the same lines on the trails. I have had quite a few of them tell me how surprised they are by my Tacoma.

Heck, I was surprised by it. I'm running P265/70R16 Michelin A/T2's at full pressure and haven't managed to get it stuck...yet. There are lines/trails I can't run due to clearances but beyond that, it runs great.

I called my TJ a LEGO because it was. There was nothing that the aftermarket didn't provide. The Tacoma, Gen1 or Gen2, doesn't have that same modularity. This took some getting use to and admittedly still pisses me off. Another issue is cost. Everything for a Jeep seems to cost half that for a Tacoma.

I'll still never get rid of my truck because its a truck and my DD. The gas mileage is more than 10mpg better than my TJ. I can haul a load of firewood, groceries, kids, hardware, etc without needing to pull a trailer and can do almost anything on the trail that my TJ could.

If it were a dedicated trail rig, I'd get another TJ. For that "Jack of all trades, master of none" role, the Tacoma is nearly perfect.

I've not had an issue finding mods I want nor taking lines I want.

There are 2 things I miss about my old jeep:
    1. The smoothness of the 4.0l inline 6
    2. Solid front axle.

Otherwise, my Tacoma has been wunderbar.

Hello all, I recently purchased a new to me 2003 toyota tacoma. I test drove it and loved it, everything worked great. After getting home, I went out at night and realized only half the gauge cluster lights were working. You could imagine how upset I was:rolleyes: that I would have to replace those lights. I have always had Toyota vehicles and have always wondered why they chose orange, I chose to replace them with cool blue white lights and I couldn't have been happier.

    Before

I figured why not clean out the inside of the dash while I was in there. :p

Re-spooled my new synthetic winch line, only this time I didn't forget to put on the scuff sleeve and sleeve to protect the line from the drum heat.

I'm pretty sure the sleeve is meant for protecting the line at angles where it could contact trees and rocks. Unless there's another sleeve you're referring to that I hadn't heard of that's specifically for contact with the drum. Sorry, I'm up way too late :anonymous:
