Disable tire pressure sensors?

Does anyone knows how to disable the fricking tire pressure light?
I'm sick and tired off that light been on all the time?

Any suggestions?

just messin, im not sure how to disable it.

 

i removed the led on mine..... simple fix but does require tearing the cluster apart.

 

Find out WHY it's on all the time. Is your spare tire inflated to the proper pressure or equal pressure of the others? Is the spare tire EVEN there? If it's missing, it'll throw the light (unless it's an '09)

It's a simple light but so aren't the others. If the oil light was on you'd dive into that to see what was up.

It's a safety thing mandated or suggested by the Feds for car companies to comply to. I'm pretty sure you won't find a dealer or reputable mechanic to disable it due to the ramifications of responsibility.

Take some black electrical tape and cover it up for a simple solution.

 

I suppose you could just unplug the Tire Pressure ECU. But it deep under the dash and tough to get to.

You could also get a tractor or small trailer tire and put all the sensors IN it and air up up...press reset...and hide the tire in your truck somewhere (under the frame, in the spare, under a seat, etc etc). A piece of capped PVC also works.

Finding out why it's on makes sense too...

 

well if your still running the sensors i would say find out why its on... but in my case i removed all the sensors so obviously it stayed on all the time.. thus the reason for my fix.

 

When dealing with it, consider that the D@mned feds require that it be fixed before it leaves a shop. I dont know if you do your own tires, it would suck to go in for something then they say gotta fix this too....oh about $100/ $50/ $250, who knows

 

I like Fire's idea the best as far as disabling the sensors!

 

Hey fire how difficult is pulling the cluster apart? I have no sensors. In same boat.

 

its not difficult at all.. takes about 15 mins to have it completly disassembled. you will need a soldering iron to take out the led though.

 

PVC bomb.................

Cap a 3" dia piece of sch 40 PVC pipe, put all the sensors inside it and cap the other end with a tire valve installed in the cap, then presurize it and hide it in your truck.

 

Can PVC handle that kind of presure long term?

 

Doesnt the manual have a section on disabling it? Like hold the button down while you start, something like that. Maybe not a disable but a reset/recalibrate.

 

bingo..no manufactuer will have a disable procedure on tire sensors

 

So recalibrate them at 0psi.

Wouldn't you have to reset them to 14.7psi? I guess you could take them to 10 meters under water and set them at 0psi...

 

nope, just pull the valve out of the stem, once the air is out its at 0 psi, then try the recal. at that time. I'm curious if the system can do that.
p.s. jack up the truck or something lol dunno about sitting on 4 flats

 

Can you put them in a small, strong balloon like the one pictured below??
