This is another clear cut case of bitch had it coming. People dumb enough to A) buy a galant and B) then drive it on the soft sand deserve to be left stuck and figure out how get it out of the mess on their own. I am a huge advocate of severely punishing stupid people.

They would just start off slowly, and then when they would lose speed, they would then give it too much gas. I stayed and watched for about 10 minutes. awesome entertainment.

Someone was brave/stupid enough to drive a Charger out there. Almost got stuck getting past that part. I wonder if he ever made it back.

Because they want to get as close to the water as they can.
You would think that seeing the 2WD full size trucks getting stuck would be a hint to leave your car on the road and walk to the water.

However, some cars can deal with mudholes.

I can understand a Chevy LS swap, but this makes not a bit of sense. But your car, your loot, and I think it'd be interesting to see completed.

Miatas are always RWD. No conversion necessary.

Ahhh, thought your comment was refering to the Miata as a FWD car,,, so NVM. But, if you can shoehorn a 5.0 crate engine into the bay, I certainly would think a 2.0 TDI would fit.

If you put your truck in Broja mode, you may have a chance.

Most of those cars that made it through there were going about 10mph+. Although they had no control, and almost slid into other stuck vehicles. Had a guy in a Suburban almost slide into the side of me as I was driving through that area.

Just get a buddy to come to the beach with you and find out what you can and can't do.

The car will be rear wheel drive.

ACME adapters makes a kit to convert the TDI into a longitudinal setup.

I'll use a Toyota W series transmission out of a late 80's early 90's pickup as the gear ratios are almost identical to that of the TDI transmission.

The curb weight of the miata is literally a ton less than that of the VW Golf I used to have, and that Golf was no slouch. (After working it)

So I'll have a 2000lb, rear wheel drive, and 180hp/300ftlb little rocket that will get around 50mpg and run somewhere around an 11 in the quarter. (guessing at the quarter times as my pig of a golf ran low 14's)

    Sounds like fun to me.

IMO, better traction from the weight over the front wheels and being able to angle the wheels some as necessary. Trucky is light over the rear wheels. But sand is a totally different animal. Truck may be better if its soft and the car starts to drag. Truck tires are generally wider, so that helps the trucky.

End of the day, just don't drive into the dark water puddle!!!
