how do you tackle buying your first lift kit!!

its time for me to get new tires n rims and im looking to lift my taco. im want to buy a 6" suspension lift kit that will be good for my truck but is also in the 1,500 dollar range.

is there any kits you would suggest!!??!

 

Pro comp, fabtech.....you will have to get a basic kit without coilovers I believe.

 

Research should be your first step! Read up on the different 6" lifts that are made for the Tacoma. Find people who have the lift your looking for and ask them what are the pros and cons, and see if it's the way to go. Sometimes you don't get the answer you want by asking "what should i get" or "what are your suggestions".

Also are you looking to lift for looks or purpose? Is your truck your DD? Gotta think about gas and wear and tear.

For $1500 you can get a nice 3" lift FOX, Icon, Toytec, OME.

Just find the one the best suits your need and budget.

Like jd said Pro Comp and Fabtech make 6" lifts for the Tacoma also Icon just came out with a new 6"-7" lift that works with the Prom Comp lift.

dont buy a 6in the basic kits are just a really expensive spacer. if your willing to spend $1500 on your suspension you can get some nice coilovers (fox, icon...) some good rear shocks (bili 5100) and an AAL pack. you will be much happier w/ those parts in terms of ride and performance

and for $500 more you can get some new UCA's to go w/ the CO's

or look into camburg and TC's lift spindles... so many better options out there than over priced drop bracket kits

 

Spindles are a great choice but not for him. He is 4x4

 

yup, im dumb and spoke before i read all his info. forget the spindles and just co w/ some coilovers and UCA's

 

I think if your gonna do a 6in and do it right 1500$ is not gonna make it but search alot if you go drop bracket your not coming back to stock if you dont like it.
