So my dad just called, he has a 2001 Tacoma and he was driving down the road and the truck randomly shut off. He jump started it before he came to a stop and it started right back up. He wasn't far from home so he kept going. The same thing happened two more times before he got home, and both times it jump started right back up.

The only thing he noticed is that it idles lower now. It used to idle just under 1000 rpm's and now its down to 500.

    Any help would be appreciated

Try the fuel pump relay. Swap it with another like it in the box or a new one.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If you don't know how old the battery is...you probably need one. Put a new alternator belt on, too.

He did tell me he stopped at a store on the way home, and shut the truck off. It started fine after. The only reason he was jump starting it was cause he was still rolling.

Not ruling it out but the battery is fairly new.

Make sure all the body grounds are clean and tight. For shits and giggles check the engine wiring isn't pinched or burned around the egr valve.
