Bad news(well, kinda): I went to the Pismo Dunes last weekend to join up with some friends from SF camping out there, and took the Taco out and screwed around in the sand. FUN AS HELL.---but took ZERO pictures/videos. FAIL! :(

Good news: truck was filthy from the dunes, and I got it detailed today. So I took new pics! :D

One of my really good friends is a master detailer and runs his business out of a local dealership, and he hooked the up Taco FATTTTT today:
    • acid wash
    • clay bar
    • 2 coats of PermaPlate paint protection (you know, that $1500 "paint protection" option the dealership offers before you sign the papers to your new vehicle)
    • engine bay detail
    • interior detail

........for a whopping $80. :D:D:D:D:D It's good to know people in the right places.

    Fresh in the detailing booth:

Jesus Christ... I think you need some sliders to pull it together. High and tight, no kick out. Then, perfection.

    hahaha thanks guys!! :D

SO funny you mention sliders...my detailer friend was finishing my truck yesterday and was like "dude, I think the only thing you need are a set of sliders. Simple ones, make 'em sit nice and close to the body." I'm thinking you're right. ;) Aesthetically, I think sliders and then powdercoating the rear bumper white would be the perfect finishing touches.

Paging DTFtacoma, might be slider time homie! ;)

    DOH!!

Usually shiny things are nice, but not when they're rubbing through a set of steering rack boots LOL.

    _20140707_122726_zps2c2595da_45bb5bb8c1ae4976933c2e4624d25ea79c86ac22.jpg

I guess romping out at the dunes finally made them rub through the boot. Oopsies.

I had a feeling this would happen, as these Dorman replacement boots fit a bittttttt on the tight side when the homie Anthony (DTFtacoma) installed them. Driver side ripped, passenger side still ok---but I might as well have both replaced. Today I ordered a set of NAPA replacement boots that are pretty much double the diameter on both the engine sides and the wheel sides.

specs of the old ripped Dorman boot:
    engine side: 1" diameter
    wheel side: 0.45" dimeter
    boot length: 7.5"

specs of the new Napa boots ordered"
    engine side: 2.19" diameter
    wheel side 1.08" diameter
    boot length: 7.75"

So the new ones will be twice as big, but maintain pretty much the same length. I can only assume the "accordion" portion will be much bigger on the new ones to fit the steering rack clevis bolts with more space.

You should have your fabricator lay a bead behind your cam tabs to reinforce them before you bend them.

I have a favor to ask you since you are running the Total Chaos race lowers.

What is your center hub to fender well measurement in the front? Do you rub from full lock to full lock with your 285s?

Can you post a picture of your CV angles?

Are you going to run a secondary shock with your TC race lowers?

    Thanks
    Matt

    Where's the donut vids???

Center to hub I'll need to measure, as I didn't write them down when everything was installed. Hopefully I'll get a chance tomorrow and PM you.

I only rub slightly on the front inner fender trim with the 285's at full lock since I'm still running the stock front bumper(for the most part). Anthony(DTFtacoma) did a custom cab mount chop and extra clearancing for the rear of the wheel wells, and I NEVER rub lock to lock on the back side of the tires at all.

I DO get a slight rub/nick on my lowers from the shaved steering stops. Do you have that on yours? I know TC states in the installation papers that slight contact will still happen at full lock with the stops shaved off, kinda sucks but oh well.

    Here's my CV angle:

    IMG_20131202_110749_1_zps12034bfc_40973b6b252575e99497484c37baee7ec677cb0a.jpg

It's pretty ideal, the axle isn't too far off from being completely horizontal.

Currently, I have no plans to run secondaries/bypass shock hoops on my lowers, but I never say never. I'd do the rear first before that ever happens though.
