Thinking of adding a second battery...
So my 2007 TRD trk with OEM inverter gave up the ghost. Had a halogen light plugged in (yes, I was not thinking straight) and eventually it fried the inverter. Had some smoke and a poof sound.

Took it out and upon close inspection, I found this to be the part that failed.

I am not into electronics. So I need the experts in here to tell me what that part is exactly. Name and any other data that I need in order to find a new one. The rest of the inverter is fine and I went over all the parts at least twice to see if any other parts had failed.

    Thanks in advance!!

That is a transistor. It will take some work to figure out what size that is but im sure those markings will help. Should be an easy and cheap fix

Power MOSFET. I would be worried if it took anything else with it.

Google search for this part # " IRFI3205 " you will find the Data Sheets and should be able to locate a supplier. Replace the MOSFET and inspect very carefully the components and wiring etc before you fire it back up. It could have beena weak component from the factory.

That MOSFET is rated at 64 Amperes continous on the Data Sheet.

Yeah after some more research the model is definetly IRF 3205 and is in the MOSFET power supply (transistor). As mentioned, I would be skepticle about just replacing this though as more damagage could have resulted. If you can see the bottom underside of that board you can look for additional burnt marks or indication of other damaged components. IF you decide to replace it, fire it up outside the truck just incase something goes wrong, you wouldnt want to burn the truck down. Also as mentioned, check those pads on the board to make sure they are still good. Looks like the desoldering was a little bit rough lol.

If it were my truck, Id just replace the inverter with a better one. Aftermarket power supplies are not the same as this and are not insulated the same to disperse heat. The OEM one looks incredibly beefy compared to over the counter replacements. May not be worth the risk of starting a fire down the road

The "G" and "S" are for Gate and Source indicating which pin of the transistor goes to which trace on the board. The Middle should say "D" for Drain. New one should have the exact same orientation so no need to worry about installing it wrong

Thanks for the replies! It was a major PITA trying to remove this piece! Space was very tight. I've manage to find some on flebay for about 5 bucks.

I do not thing I damaged the board as I was very careful. I will remove the unit from the truck and post pics from the underside of the board for you guys to give me the all clear.

    Going to bed for now.

If you are lucky, that is the only one it took out.
It may have damaged the other (three?) but they simply didn't "blow"
Electronic parts fry all the time without "looking" bad.

This ^^^. IF I decided to repair over just replacing it with a better unit, I would just replace them all.

Switching power supplies rarely only lose only one part personally I'm afraid your new transistor will be come a 3 legged fuse.
