Hey guys I've had my taco since January. I bought it brand new and after 5000 miles I started hearing a noise in my front suspension. It sounded like a turkey (seriously). I took it to my dealership and they told me that my strut supports were bad. After 5000 miles!!!! I live on a dirt road but I baby it. I've never done honestly over 20 miles an hour on my dirt road and I know where all the bad parts are. I'm almost wondering if I need to get some aftermarket struts and shocks to stand up to my dirt road. I really hope it was just a defective part or it was improperly installed. So do you guys have any reccomendations for aftermarket stuff. I don't want something to go offroading. I just need something heavy duty I guess. You guys are the experts.

When I first got mine it squeaked like that over the speed bump in the alley. Going slow mind you too. After that one time I never heard it again. Sounds, pun intended, like yours has stayed with ya though. New stock parts should be just fine. :)

Aside from the dealer saying that the strut supports were bad, are they going to replace them? If so, you should be fine and not have to worry about it. Sounds like a warranty issue.

yeah the dealership said that they would replace the supports for free since I am under warranty but they have to order the parts so it isn't fixed yet they will call me when they get the parts.

I took my truck in Friday and left it for the dealership to fix. Left it all weekend then this afternoon(monday) I get a call saying that they rechecked the strut and there is no problem that the first tech who looked at the truck was wrong. So I go to pick it up and I'm mad that they ordered the parts and kept my truck all weekend and then they didn't do anything to it. So I talk to the service manager he tells me that he will be happy to go on a ridealong to show him the noise because he doesn't hear it. So I say ok. We go for a ride and as soon as we leave the dealership and hit a small bump you can hear it. I drive around and he hears it. Go back to the dealership. He goes home and tells them to check it out. I wait for 2 and a half hours and they tell me they can't find anything wrong but they lubed it up and drive it for another night and let them know it if gets better. This sounds like crappy service to me. What do you guys think?

I feel you pain man. My service department sucks also, David Maus Toyota in Orlando. I will say the suspension on mine seems pretty solid, and I have tested it very well.

Thanks for the support. Tacoman I do plan on taking it over to Jim Hudson Toyota for them to check it out if it still makes the noise. I have been taking it to Dick Dyer Toyota.

thanks for the number. I got the service manager Mike Meiss to put it in writing that he heard the noise and that the problem was not fixed.

Thanks for the number and the advice guys. I called toyota and told them what happened. They told me that the dealership would be calling me to tell me what they would do to fix the problem. Then last Friday the service manager Mike Meiss called me and told me that he got a email from Corporate and that he thought the problem was fixed and I said no you went home and I waited for 2 and a half hours while they did nothing but lube everything. He told me to bring the truck in on Monday May 12 and they would give me a loaner car. So I've been driving a 2009 Camry all week and then they finally called me today(Thursday) and told me that they replaced the struts and did an allignment. Of course they didn't call me to tell me this until 4 days later and after they had completed the repairs. So I guess they took care of me. I think that they just didn't want to do warranty work. But I can almost garantee you that if I was out of warranty they would have told me to replace my strut and pay for that.

I guess I'm over it as long as everything is fixed. I will not hesitate to call toyota in the future though, it seems like it gets things done.

I hope the freakin noise is gone.

Geez, when the customer service rep from Toyota calls you (which they should) lay into that dealer for their crappy service. If they don't call you, you call them. I would have it all written down so that when they do call you have all your sh** in order. That was pretty lowsey how they treated especially when they had a rep ride with you and he even heard it. Somebody at that dealership needs to learn that they shouldn't dick around with their customers when there is a problem. Toyota called me just last night and wanted feedback on the customer service when I had my leaf spring TSB done this past Monday. My dealer was awesome at their customer service and thats exactly I said.
