It depends on what the builder will actually let you do. This is all important to find out BEFORE you contract or put down a deposit in case something is a deal breaker for you. In our case the builder had no problem with us coming in and doing low-volt ourselves so long as we didn't interfere with their electrical or anything else. We kept to electrical code where possible to avoid any issues at pre-drywall inspection. I ran a couple thousand feet of network, cable & audio wire and the cost was negligible especially when you consider what their fee was for each low-volt outlet after the first. It's absurd. Our hard surfaces (flooring, counter tops, etc.) credit was pitiful so we just picked out basic laminate, carpet & tile and will redo it to our liking eventually. It didn't make sense to do it at the time unless the credit for doing it ourselves would have been better. We also got ceiling fan pre-wires and basic lighting and then changed those out ourselves after the fact for much less. We also did all of our own landscaping & irrigation system and I'm not sure I'd do all that myself again. I still wouldn't pay the builder's premium to do it but I may get bids on individual tasks to avoid wasting an entire summer away (and then some) doing all of the work myself. We bought & installed our own garage door openers and was able to go with much nicer units at a fraction of the builder cost. There's other things too but that should give you an idea. Anything you do yourself you can either pay out of pocket or use shorter term store financing to save from financing more on your home loan. Sure the rates are good but it's still that much more you pay in interest and that much longer until you pay it off.

Having gone 250k, Aug 2016 was the time to replace the original clutch & get the driver's seat rebuilt/stuffed. Front & back Weathertech liners. '05 Tundra front disc brake swap. Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar, Alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
If anyone can help on this shoot me a PM, so I'm not side tracking the current topic.

In the process of testing my new armor & rocksliders on Coney Flats, I managed to snap BOTH of my rear upper control arms.

I'm wondering if anyone has a pair that they took off during a suspension upgrade to their 3rd gen 4Runner & for some reason didn't toss them into the recycled steel bin. Thanks!

Seems like going back to stock would be asking for the same thing to happen again. Check Rock Toy Industries or Toytec....

Yeah cheapest would be oem just because so many do suspension upgrades. It's what I would do. But Austin is right, too, and the oem replacements would be temporary.

Might be able to just weld them back together, let me know if you're interested. You take 'em off, I'll burn 'em back together. No guarantee on the bushing, but shouldn't compromise it too much.

I can't imagine the stock one are that week.

If I were you I'd buy two cheap ones to get it going. And then take the other Brett up on his offer and keep those as trail spares.

well, my luck sucks. truck was broken into last night

they stole just about everything of value except the stereo. they tried but ended up with my ash tray because they were too stupid to know how to get it out. every summer this happens, last year my windows and door were shot out, now this.

Ost, if you would grant me your wisdom......

recommendations for motion sensor lighting and possibly security camera systems?

Excellent idea, I hadn't thought of that. I did see a really nice pair from for $300 but for now I'm on a budget so the Taiwanese Roca's for $123/o.b.o. is what I'm looking at getting. I'm a little hesitant about getting a pair from a salvage yard.

I'm a little surprised at how hard it is to find these. Napa, AZ, Advanced, etc, none of them had any that I could find.

What do you need to know? I'm pretty busy with life stuff these days so my availability anymore is pretty slim but I'll assist with info where I can.

Probably just Foscam cameras. Inexpensive and robust. You can add all sorts of functionality w/o needing to pay monthly fees for anything and you can get as many or as few as you want and add more as you need them. I think Mr Beams makes some battery operated spot lights that get good reviews. I just tied all of our front lights into a motion sensor so I'm not real big on the battery powered stuff but if you do some Googling it sounds like the technology has come a long ways and you can get some decent stuff w/o having to pay a fortune.
