I love Oregon! I have family in Baker City and Eugene so I am a frequent traveler through there.

I would like to so I can have a true cold air intake. I will never go into deep enough water to need it though (at least I don't think I will lol).

Just debating on which one I will go with.

I didn't modify it, just took if off so its open facing up/back in the fender opening. The snorkel will attache to it easy which is probably going to happen within the next month.

I just realized that you have gears on your list of to-do's. If so have you been rolling on stock gearing this whole time? How does the truck handle the weight in the bed, the trailer, and the big tires with stock gearing. I only have 33" tires and man it sucks on some of the canyons around here. I know you are in Utah as well, how does your truck do on parley's and the like?

Absolutely! Would love to see your Taco in person (that sounded dirty lol)

I actually am pretty impressed at how well the truck does on stock gears.. My biggest issue is at highway speeds it doesn't want to stay in overdrive (65+) so my fuel economy drops. Power is still surprisingly good though.

I have had the Nitro 4.88 gears and ARB air lockers for a couple of months now and I just haven't found the time to install them. I can not wait for it to be done though!!

Sometimes you just have to drop your truck off for a Spa treatment.

Not sure I understand this exactly. When I am at highway speeds, my truck wants to drop into 4th gear if I try and speed up too much at all on even the slightest incline. Going up some of the steeper grades around here like parleys canyon, I can barely hold 60-65 MPH in in 4th gear and usually the transmission will drop into 3rd to climb. Granted that even then I am only at 3500-4000 RPMs but that is still high compared to the 1800 to 2000 rpms that I usually hit on a flat portion of highway going 65-70.

I hit 3rd gear on climbs also, of course, but I usually manually shift gears to keep it where I want it (or at least try) when I have the trailer and without. If I don't manually shift it then the truck wants to stay in a lower gear most of the time on the freeways. When I try to speed up on hills I will hit those higher RPM's but I only do that if I need to and still have pretty good power to do so.

That all makes sense. Sounds like it is the same story with the the 33's. I definitely agree that the truck has the power when you need it. The gears just make it able to use that power without using so much fuel.

Where are you planning on getting them installed? I had looked into gears awhile back but never did a ton of research into shops that can do it around here.
