Engine swap from 3.4lt to 4.0 2001 tacoma

    Can this be done easy. 2001 tacoma crewcab 4x4 3.4lt replace with a 4.0lt same trans?

    Do you need to change motor mounts, Will the trans work correctly with it and any other modifications needed?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    The motor mounts will more than likely need changed as the frames are different between those generations. You would need the wiring harness and the ecu. The trans will more than likely not work since you would have to switch ecu's. If you wanted any working gauges, they would also need changed.

    So, I am going to say no on the easy part.

    Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
    most times when you do a swap you'll need:
    new mounts
    new ECU
    new wiring harness
    new airbox/intake
    transmission adapter (sometimes)
    and more smaller stuff i can't list off the top of my head

    i looked into a simple 2.7L to 3.4L swap and it was going to be too much of a hassle.

    also, i see your an MP in the army, I'm currently in ROTC and am looking at either MP officer as well as some other MOS's. Care to share any info and helpful advise on your particular MOS?

    I'd do a 1UZ or whatever the 4L V8 is over a 4L V6 considering the work involved.

    290hp/310 tq for the V8 about. I know someone with a 5lugger did the swap on here.
