    Irene was stronger than the storm last night... You are a but more west than I am along with Dyob... You guys are inland and the storm probably disapated by the time it got to me.

    Sandy did more damage because of the sustained winds. 1 gust at 50 is still weaker than a constant air flow of 30 mph...

    And thats why you are good at your job :D

    This is my biggest problem with Fed Ex... The local driver is afraid of my dog so he leaves the packages in the middle of the side walk or he won't drop it off at all. My dog is a Labordoodle I don't think she looks that intimidating. UPS guy at least gives her a treat.

    Screw fedex. Every package I've gotten in the past year from them looks like it was on the beaches of Normandy. Two of them had missing parts and one was left right under the part of my gutter that's leaking and it had been raining all day that day so it was pretty obvious.

    Please never become an engineer. Your thinking is maybe 2% correct and the rest is very flawed.

    I have to run windloads daily on entrances and per ASTM I never run them at long intervals. They are always ran for no more than a minute and in most cases 7 seconds is the max.

    If your theory was correct a 20mph sustained wind would do more damage than a 100mph gust.

    I would guarantee the windloads that turned over my chair s last night were less than when Sandy hit. If the winds last night were sustained my lawn furniture would of flown away.



    Dam...you ship them super cheap ground or something? My engine didn't take that long and it came from Huntington Beach (opposite coast).

    I think that 30 miles winds for an extended time frame in very wet conditions can cause more damage than the other scenario....
