Sure is. Actually it is one of my favorite custom tweaks I have done. Turned out awesome. Especially on the white truck.

That shell rack really turned out great and worked out great offroad.
    Here's how I mounted the Hi-lift:20140709_201553_zpsu3azbmwz_1b3b9821464655848ba9409f6f6439928707de73.jpg

I may have to order the tracks so I can easily mount the rack when I order ;)

I think it's the best way to go if you want to easily remove it as well.

Do you think Thule or Yakima are basically the same design as rails?

Yeah, the tracks appear to be the same which is what the shell dealer told me, I had the Thule installed only because those were the only tracks they had in stock at the time.

I guess I'm going to call the people ordering my parts for my shell and have them order the rails too

Sorry if I missed this, but would this aluminum rack bear the weight of an RTT on a double cab roof (shell) without any issues? Thanks.

The rack will bear the weight no problem. If you are wanting it over the cab of the truck, again, no problem. Fiberlgass shells over the bed of the truck will vary in strength but the rack is certainly not the limiting factor in that case. I have been running mine that way all summer, mostly on my shell but once over the cab of my truck.

Any drawbacks to running the rtt over the cab?

I think that it makes more noise and has more drag but have heard from people who do it more often than me that it doesn't make a difference. Most of the people that have RTT have so much other crap on their trucks that gas mileage and noise are negligible. One bonus of over the cab is if you have a annex you can open it into your truck for easy access to gear.
