Colinb17's kinda sorta build thread - now with 4-link and long travel

Sounds like Minot, North Dakota. Spent a little time up there about this time last year, helping with the start-up of a natural gas plant we had just finished building. Mcdonalds cashiers make $17 an hour. a run of the mill loaf of bread is $8.00, and hardware/building supplies are through the roof. had to drive 100+ miles to the nearest walmart for any sort of reasonable price on anything.

 

We just opened a store there.

 

Much needed. as the plant neared completion, an entire new town started sprouting up around the entire area. some mainstream shops that can drive prices down are going to be very welcomed.

 

Just ordered the tank and two pumps for the aux. fuel project. going to try to get everything mocked up this weekend. may even get it plumbed if i'm lucky.

ordered two pumps. i'll run them in parallel, for faster fuel transfer, as well as redundancy, in case one pump craps out.

may get something along these lines depending on how exactly the tank sits, to allow for easier fuel-ups if needed. it would allow me to mount a filler/cap flush with the bed rails, between the cab and tool box.

 

to clarify, if I get the Jaz filler port, It would be similar to this (but smaller), and there would be a hose going to the filler cap by the tool box


where it would lead to and actually be filled at. most likely use a marine style filler cap. vvvv

 

Sorry for the delay, lol I had to go look at the filler neck on my truck.

The metal filler neck is around a foot long or so and then a rubber hose is attached to it from the tank itself. I would tie in there, with a short stub of hose, a tee, and some clamps. You can even shorten the end of the filler neck to make room for the tie-in if need be, but things may be flexible enough that you won't need to.

 

Went there on Tuesday and was greatly dissappointed. And then I went to check out and all that was open was the self-checkout... The lady working there was confused on hardware at that point.

I was really hoping to not have to drill into the main filler neck, so i'm glad you said tee into the rubber hose, because that makes things a lot easier. at 1.4 gallons per minute, i doubt i'll exceed the flow rate of that hose, which was one of my main concerns.
