    I just attempted to type a good chunk of text for you on my phone but it was a pain to try and edit. I'll get back to this question tonight. There are a few things that make an RTT a bad choice for me. I thought I could make it work but I will be going back to the ground.

    Isn't this your second rtt?






    Anyone use a 12volt fan in their tent? I've been looking on Amazon to try to find a solution for hot summer camping.

    This is pricier than I was looking to spend but I think it's probably the best option. This tucked between the center hoop and the window would probably move a lot of air.

    Yep, the first one was ran over by a friend while my bed rack was being built. I used it in the fall/beginning of winter. Thought I could make it work for my lifestyle so I got the current one. Just realizing its not for me. It sucks and I am going to take a loss but that's life. Live and learn. I got caught up in the hype and cool factor.

    Definitely can...as pics and personal experiences will show...BUT...Toyota rates roof top capacity at like 300# or something.

    Now, RTT weight is way lower than 300#, and so is topper weight rating (like 150# usually), but I'd rather scrap a $3k topper because it cracked than the roof of a $30k+ truck any day.

    I run mine on a Leer 100xq and fully anticipate fatiguing in my future. Planning accordingly. u5yrupu5_5e3b64e3c65fedf0967e63e9d97907985849f895.jpg

    On this note. I don't know how valid of an argument it is but I have seen many people over on ExPo say that technically only half of the weight is on the truck when the RTT is deployed. The other half rests on the ladder.

    My tent alone is 125-130 so just it up there isn't a problem. If the above statement is true then really it isn't to much stress on the topper with people inside.

    I sleep in mine with feet at the ladder. So I'd guess it wasn't half :D

    Typically the weight rating for the roof is for the roof racks. I've never seen any info that says "this is how strong the roof is". It's always "Thule rack on Tacoma can hold 150lbs" etc...

    BUT that 150lb weight rating is the maximum weight rating for the vehicle while still being able to travel at highway speeds. The maximum weight while parked is very different, however I've never seen any actual weight rating for while parked.



    And I'll ask this again since my last post is on the last page now.

    Anyone use a 12v fan in their tent for hot summer nights?

    What did you use to mount the RTT to your topper? I have Yakima rails on mine and I am looking to get a mount in place for a RTT.
