But are you just splicing into that green wire below the dash? Already tried that one and it didn't work :/

Anyone heard from frank? I tried texting him a couple days ago and haven't heard back, getting snobbed! Or his Alzheimer's acted up and he forgot his phone somewhere...

I don't see why not, although I haven't really heard anything out of Matt. If we don't go there, we can meet up here.

If we don't go to matts lets do my place, plenty of parking, full garage and we could still hit flagpole (I live about 5 min from him btw)

And I got an almost immediate response from frank so I informed him of his increasing levels of old-man-disease

Replied had a interesting weekend and yes my Alzheimer's had been acting up as usual. Cleaned up the truck and repainted the rear brake drums black and a few other things.

Hopefully soon I really want to. I'm ready for it to be all black and green and then the interior will be black as well and need to order some led green bulbs for gauges.

So while in the process of replacing a ujoint today I found out that the nut connecting the front and rear drive shafts has been missing since who knows when... So basically I now know that, while having the two bolted together is important, it's not CRITICAL, lol

apparently they were held together basically just by pressure. if you look inside the second u-joint (just after the carrier bearing) you should see a nut on the end of the front shaft. that's actually there to prevent the rear driveshaft from sliding off the spline from the front shaft. BUT, the only way it could ever actually do that is if it was to separate from the rear axle. so since i'd never separated the driveshaft or tried moving the rear axle at any point i never noticed it was missing and seems to not have had a problem since there's about 3 inches of spline before they do come apart... if all that make sense.

in the end, I'd never suggest going without unless it was a complete emergency but it is good to know that it is possible to do without causing harm to the truck

and Frank: sounds like some big plans man! lemme know if you need any help with all that

My front drive shaft is connected to my front diff and transfer case, no where near my rear driveshaft.

"front" here meaning front half of the rear shaft. it comes out of your transfer case at the first ujoint, runs back through the carrier bearing to a splined end that connects to the second ujoint, from there is the second half of the rear shaft that connects to the rear axle... I can take a pic here if needed
