I was going to register and make an introduction thread for my new purchase, but that will have to wait.

4 days after bringing home the truck from the dealership, I was driving my wife and our son to a dinner in the new truck when we were hit by a couple idiots (or idiot couple) fleeing from the police and ran thru a red light, rammed into us at full speed. We walked away from the mess.

I had a chance to look at the truck at the tow yard this morning, can any repair experts or insurance appraisers tell me if this thing is a total loss or will it buff out? My insurance is still working on the case, but I'm just wondering on what to expect from something like this.

I would pray that it gets totaled. My family had a van that was about $1000 from being totaled and replaced, but it never drove the same after being repaired. It was a Toyota Sienna so as far as vans go they are not terrible but the vehicle was riddled with problems. Judging that the bed of your taco is also showing stress and crumpling, I would say that they total it for fear of the frame being bent.

doesnt look like much mechanical damage, id say theyll fix it cuz these things are so expensive..... theres some math formula regarding the cost of the fix vs BB value to determine if they total or not. And these things hold their value.

Extensive exterior damage frame is probably compromised in the front. Air bag deployment.... totaled is my bet

This is like the 10th thread in 2 months of total losses. I'm scared to pull mine out of the garage now

    probably totaled

if frame is still 100%, then that is >$17,000 of work, prob 20,000

I am guessing frame is also bent therefore a lot more

    totaled.

Looks like suspension damage, cab damage, probably frame damage, bed damage, air bag deployment, leaking oil, ect....

Another member just replaced his side airbags and associated safety equipment due to a electrical mistake. Cost 6k to replace them.

    That truck is done imo

Here's my dashcam video of the crash. I was going 35mph. Can't tell how fast they were going, but from the video, they covered about 60 ft length in about one second before going airborne, so that puts them at around 35-40mph as well.

(Sorry, I can't figure out how to embed the youtube video yet).
