Sounds like a nice time. The only shopping I will do with the wife without protest is to the Amish built furniture store we have up here, or antique shopping sometimes when we're on vacation. I can check out real wood furniture stuff all day and not be bored.

Hey Chris, I'm on shift the next three nights as well ... Catch ya' around here.

Not crazy at all ... Had two months terminal leave when I retired from active duty. First month was OK, second month I started getting bored as hell; and I was spending money on little projects around the house like crazy. When I gave all my receipts to the wife (she keeps the books) her only comment was, "Old man, you need to go back to work."

Only half of my plant shut down and they came back up Monday. Not too bad here though.

We start up this coming Monday. Shutdowns are rough...tearing down the equipment, cleaning or replacing parts & putting it all back together. Not to mention it's hotter than a furnace in the plant with no A/C. On day shift this week we would work for an hour then cool off for 30 minutes in the break area. All of us were soaked with sweat.

It's much easier when the place is running.

We have 2 shut downs a year and the one we have in the winter is when they kill the power to the whole plant. Sometimes it get right frosty a day or two into it.

We have 3 to 6 each year...depending on business. I like the shut downs in the fall & winter....way more comfy weather for physical work.

    What's your line of work?

I do emergency response and fire protection for a pharmaceutical company. We have a lot of clean rooms so when they shut down the air handlers it gets stuffy real quick.
