I'd like to find a cap/shell for a double cab Tacoma short-bed that is fitted to the vehicle, almost like a SnugTop would be, but extending over the roof and with a pop-top to extend the height when needed. Here's a quick image manipulation to show what I'm talking about. Anyone know of something like this, or how I could get it made? I'm talking about a bare bones shell/cap, rather than a decked-out camper with cabinets, etc.

Somebody on Expedition Portal is building one of those "importer" camper shells (Glen L are where the plans come from?), so you could modify it however you want. That is a great mock-up, but the amount of cantilevered force over the DC would be huge.

The closest you could get to what you are looking for is the 4 Wheel Camper 'Finch' model. But you will want the shell model which is completely empty. No cabinets, sink, stove, etc. Just a couple benches. It doesn't fit snug like a canopy does though.

    Here's what I run:

I just completed a new mounting rack for the box and used it for the first time last weekend. I'll be doing a write-up about the redesigned mounts before long. A lighter cab over cap would be nice but I built a platform to fit inside my Leer 180, I can slide the mattress out of my slide in pop-up onto the platform for when I'm traveling light. Works great.

I'd look into Flip Pac or even a Rooftop Tent with a bed rack to support it.
